Concentrating on trades has helped me not concentrate on Saturday's result! How did you pull up after it?
I’m still dirty about it. Never seen such a blatant block let go. WC were the better side apart from errant kicking at goal, but at the end of the day we were still potentially robbed of a flag because of one poor umpiring non-decision at a crucial time.

Tigers will come back to the pack Next year. Not sure on order at this stage but I think Adelaide will bounce back and make the 8, North I think will have a good offseason this year and will make the 8

Top 8 in no order will be Pies, Eagles, Giants, Crows, Giants, Dees, North and Dons.

I think that we could be in the position we were in 2009 missing not many pieces to finally having the team to go all the way. Should have last Sat. Elliott and Moore fit would be huge.
That’s a pretty incredible effort from GWS to make the top 8 twice in the one season!

May he stay with GC for a year and then comes to us as a FA. Next year we'll have loads of cap space with Wells,Goldy,Reid all retired off.

This is my feel as well, but it’s leaning towards rose coloured glasses type stuff!

Unfortunately, it’s now or probably never.
And agree

Does anyone know if Beams is a realistic chance?

Could be wrong here but pretty sure he announced at Brisbane's B&F that he was staying? I think it's good for SEQ footy that a player of his ilk is staying put rather than coming (back) to Melbourne. However, the thought of recruiting an ex-Copeland Trophy winner to help us go one step further is tantalising.

With Moore,McLarty,Dunn,Langdon (plays tall) Madgen, Shaz, bring in Kelly to develop our key defensive talls are quite good. May will cost too much TBH.

There are plenty of stars in rabbles of teams. Just because his team was bad didn’t excuse a lack of effort or consistency. There’s no evidence that he would have been any better at another club in his early years, you’re just making excuses to suit your argument.

Melbourne were historically bad during the period in question both on and off field and it was widely acknowledged that their player development was largely poor over those 5-6 years.

If you don't think that counts for something in a team that was getting flogged by 10-15 goals every other week then that's fine, but personally I also attribute some value to the team and system / environment a player is in when making comparisons (there's also the fact that Howe started out as a forward which muddies the comparison further).

The fact is that now Howe is borderline AA material as an intercepting defender who can also play on talls and smalls after starting out as a forward.

Langdon has been serviceable and had a good finals series (with a very good grand final performance), but he still has a way to go to reach that sort of level and it will require him to improve on those issues with his intensity, decision making and disposal.

I'm not saying that Langdon can't be that good, but speculating that he will be better than Howe based on an uneven comparison over their first 4-5 years is folly in my opinion.

That's a tough gig picking the 8 for next season.

Usually two teams drop out, even three. Could be more the season is so even.

I'd suggest the two most likely to fall out are Geelong and Sydney.
I'd chuck in a third in Hawthorn.
(Melbourne can be shaky too but likely still get there.)

So on that basis I need three new entrants.
Not happy but expect Essendon to be one, Port Adelaide bounces back then it's tight between Adelaide or North or Bulldogs or... I'll plump for Adelaide.
I just don't trust North or Bulldogs.

Mainly because of spite, I'll pick Carlton for another Spoon as they are winning spoons now.
SpOonS is a great word as it spells SOS if you look at it, which is fitting.

Top eight:

Collingwood, West Coast, Richmond, AFL Giants, Adelaide, Melbourne, Port Adelaide, Essendon.

Grand Final Collingwood v West Coast which we win by 12 goals. Stuff them we play great :)
