What the hell is happening with Steven May? It went from an absolute certainty, no one had ever been more certain about a trade ever, to now we’re not even being mentioned in any discussion involving him?

We appear to have a history of this. May and Collingwood were first reported 4 months ago. It was only two weeks ago it was reported that playeres had allegedly been told May was signed, sealed & delivered.

I think it is poor list management that we have two best 22 players unsigned at the start of trade week. It appears we were prepared to let them go but then had a change of heart. We did not even offer Langdon a contract until Tuesday. In the case of Moore why didn't we put a time line on contract negotiations?

See what info I can get from tonight's Copeland .. I'll probably get too shitfaced to remember any of it anyhow.. so I'll probably have to keep it to myself.. don't wanna feed you the wrong info re
So did Port last year. There are no points for who gets the most trades done.
I still remember that mastermind Damien Barrett smugly commenting on Collngwood's inaction over the trade period. Trade Period is simply an exercise in shuffling deckchairs unless planned to address deficiencies. Hawthorn are masters at it.

So now North are getting Finlayson from GWS. They look to be killing the trade period, in theory.
Killing it!?

A.Hall is a cat

Finlayson meh

Polec is a nice player but if as reported they are paying him 3.5m over five years, that is more than we are paying Treloar!!

Gaff is the one North need to land

You don't honestly believe that?

We have a history of being linked to every player that is potentially moving clubs. Doesn't mean the club are genuinely interested.
And even when we are interested, once another club chooses to offer more than we think is fair value or the asking price is too high- we drop out.
As any sensible, well run club would.

Tim Kelly requested a trade to WC officially.

Big loss for the Cats, will be interesting to see what they get for him.
If both Gaff and Lycett go, as expected, and West Coast don't match, they go from having zero first round picks to two through compensation.

One of those will go towards a Kelly trade.

Not at all. We are linked with every player. I don't believe anything until the contract is signed. Less so when it is reported by the Herald Sun. I am not talking $$$ because that was always going to be high.

The issue was always what it was going to cost us in players/picks. It was always going to be high. It was quite clear it was going to be more than Blair, Smith and Oxley. Were we just waiting and hoping that Langdon and Moore would leave so we can pass what we got onto GCS? A well-run list management team would do their homework and know what it is going to cost them in terms of trade before they go after the player, ala The Hawks.

I don't believe that Collingwood ever wanted Langdon or Moore to leave. The negotiations probably took longer than expected because they needed to negotiate the player managers down to an acceptable deal, or because players were holding out hoping their value would increase after finals. We will never know.

How do you know we didn't play this like a well run list management team like Hawthorn?
Maybe 1 month ago, behind the scenes we had discussions with May and the Suns, heard what they were wanting, and decided that the price was too high so moved on.

That would be professional.

A quiet off season will do me just fine again.
Some of the names I've heard mentioned are laughable and will not improve us at all- Jake Neade?
Seriously.

As for May I'm praying he goes to Melbourne.
We don't need him- he isn't Alex Rance or Jeremy McGovern.

The club didn't offer anything to Langdon because he was seen as a potential casualty should we land Lynch or May.

Pino is just as loud/noticeable as Creed Aventus re.. in a room full of big characters.. you don't wanna do that. Probably opt for something like a Polo Black.. avg projection and longevity.. and have a la nuit de l'homme traveller for the after party.. more intoxicating and alluring re.

Already at the top of your game then - you're a great re.

What is everyone’s thoughts on the Tim Kelly issue? This is what I personally hate about free agency and clubs having no power. Geelong lose all value as he declares he wants to go home, no other team gave him a shot he’s 26 now never was plays one year with Geelong who was the only team to give him a chance and he repays them by wanting to leave after a year and now Geelong lose bargaining power due to him wanting to leave

Considering Scott Lucas said Langdon wasn't offered a contract until after the Grand Final because we had interest in other players would be enough evidence i would presume.

This doesn't mean we were happy for Langdon to leave. It could just mean that we didn't know what our upper most offer could be until other issues were finalised. Once again we don't know.
