If Carlton pick up Sam Collins using their state-available players, could we trade :
Pick 19 for Pick 25 + Pick 65 + Sam Collins.

We get a mature-age-KPD, and enough points for our academy/Father-son prospect.

You might wanna read my posts on May from a while ago. Didn't think we needed him. Sufficient enough down back. And my prediction that Langdon will be our most important player in the GF re.. they don't call me the Oracle for nothing re..

Could take you under my wing.. but spiritualism is not something you can teach someone re.

Under your wing would be the best place in the world.

Carlton has no need for Sam Collins.

Interesting that both Moore and Langdon (who knew, no need to panic?) essentially might mean no May?

So in essence we'll be fairly in-active this trade period.

We're fairly seriously banking on Moore/the club getting his body right, as our lack of KPP quality is still of a concern.
We were prity quiet last off season, which I thought was a worry! Turned out almost perfect! 5 points off perfect!

I thought the Suns had asked him to commit to long term or goooone.
They can’t force him to be traded elsewhere, nor to dishonour his current contract.

Might Work out Better as May's Trade Price be Steep
It’s entirely possible. May would be handy but he’s not the free hit that Lynch is for Richmond. We need to recognize the difference and not get caught up in a trade/FA war we can’t win.

Correct - no point selling the farm for a 27 yr old who is prone to missing games.

We will have Will Kelly in development.

Cox, Mihocek, Moore, Dunn, Reid, Kelly as bigger bodied KPP types. Given the injury history of Reid and Moore, it is a little thin but no disaster.
Howe, Langdon, Goldsack, Schaz, Murphy as 190cm+ 3rd man types.
They may be tempted to try Murphy up forward again. If he grows close to 195cm, he's quite athletic and can play the Tom Lynch (Adelaide). Jack Lukosious type mobile forward role. He did kick 7goals in a game playing for Brighton Grammar in his senior year.

Thinking about the back-up ruck situation is it worth looking at some of the uncontracted players out there? Throwing some names out there, Matthew Lobbe (Car), Matthew Luenberger (Ess), Zac Smith (Gee), Cam Pederson (Mel), Billy Longer (StK) are all off contract.

Did you skip over the bit about Melbourne being an absolute rabble of a club in every way imaginable during Howe's time there?
There are plenty of stars in rabbles of teams. Just because his team was bad didn’t excuse a lack of effort or consistency. There’s no evidence that he would have been any better at another club in his early years, you’re just making excuses to suit your argument.

They are all terrible. Luenbergers okay.

Wow! Wishful thinking that Murphy is going to have a 5cm growth spurt and become a poor man's Tom Lynch.

I find it ridiculous that keeping more and Langdon counts is out on May , beams or whoever from a salary cap point of view. Unless they are referring to suitable trade options.
Treloar, Sidebottom, Adams, Pendlebury, DeGoey would all be on decent coin $750k per season.
None of our KPP's are probably in that range (Moore has the potential to be).
Given Dustin Martin is on well north of $1m a season, (+Lynch, Prestia, Cotchin, Rance, Riewoldt at their top end, you'd think we might have some flex to get a May-type still.) Perhaps it is where the retention and price of Wells and Mayne hurt us.

I'm surprised Lynch went to the Tigers I reckon a lot of the competition will catch up with them next year.

They will be solid , but back to the pack of 9 or so other good sides , we cannot rest on our laurels but as was shown this year we have very good general depth

Murphy has already grown significantly in the past 12 months. He’s around 192-3cm now, looking at him next to JDG, who is 191. There’s every chance that he could gain another 1-2cm. I think he’s better utilised as a defender though, his kicking from defence is elite.

Regarding May...I reckon you look at what Lynch would have been worth in a trade then take a bit off (backs aren't worth as much as forwards). They were both club captains.

Tom Boyd was traded for Ryan Griffen and pick 6 when Griffen was 28 and Bulldogs club captain.

IMO Lynch is worth one high first round pick and a first round pick the following season. Or one high first round, a second round pick and a player with something coming back the other way.

May is probably worth two late first round picks or a high first and second round pick/or player.
