Trading one of our 2025 1sts + 2026 3rd to Adelaide for their 2025 + 2026 1st rounders + 2026 2nd round

Trading Adelaide's 2025 + 2026 first rounders, our 2027 1st rounder, and Steely Green to West Coast for Harley Reid and their 2026 2nd rounder.

• Keeps one of our 2025 picks for Rodriguez.
• Keeps our 2026 1st rounder to grab Armstrong/Walker, as well as trading in West Coast and Adelaide's 2nd rounders to help with points needed for those 2 + Leys Jr.
• Trades out of the heavily Tassie compromised 2027 draft when we'll be moving up the ladder (remember when we finished bottom 6 in 2011 and our 1st pick was Pick 14? **** that.)

Added benefit to the above is that Carlton may not have the points needed to match a bid for Cody Walker in 2026 if they finish high enough.

End result of this could be:

2025 - Harley Reid, Fred Rodriguez, Louis Kellaway, plus free agents (Ed Richards, Josh Fahey, Seamus Mitchell)
2026 - Tanner Armstrong and/or Cody Walker, Jack Leys, plus free agents (Kieran Briggs, Dylan Moore, Tom Sparrow)
2027 - No first rounder, so stock up on free agents (Keidean Coleman, Caleb Serong, Noah Anderson, Sam Flanders, Tom Green, Will Day, Trent Rivers, Charlie Comben, Cody Weightman)

Some of these latest draftees we have are pretty damaging kicks I think - esp Lalor & Smillie. So Rowell getting it out to them might not be the worst formula. Taranto is more suited to playing high half forward. Hopper-Rowell-Lalor-Smillie as the 4 inside mids could work well.

Absolute stupidity! Locking in a 3 Million commitment to a novice player who may just be a bust. Take your hate Carlton goggles off and use some common sense.

We need to inject pace into the midfield. If we’re after a high profile type then we should be chasing a player like Butters. Not Rowell. Rowell is a very good player, however, we have already got bull types need dash & skill.

I went through the last 10 years of drafts and there are only a handful where I would take that deal. Particularly when Reid has only had 1 year so I am assuming he is as good as he is touted to be. So in essence the base rate probability is no deal.
