That Shane Bolton would be handyWe need to inject pace into the midfield. If we’re after a high profile type then we should be chasing a player like Butters. Not Rowell. Rowell is a very good player, however, we have already got bull types need dash & skill.
to shy for my liking. That Shane Bolton would be handy
Both Smillie & Lalor can be our inside bull with hopefully McAuliffe. Some of these latest draftees we have are pretty damaging kicks I think - esp Lalor & Smillie. So Rowell getting it out to them might not be the worst formula. Taranto is more suited to playing high half forward. Hopper-Rowell-Lalor-Smillie as the 4 inside mids could work well.
Agree on ButtersWe need to inject pace into the midfield. If we’re after a high profile type then we should be chasing a player like Butters. Not Rowell. Rowell is a very good player, however, we have already got bull types need dash & skill.
I'd happily give up picks 1 and 2 for Harley Reid.
When does his free agency come up?Agree on Butters
doesn't matter these days. When does his free agency come up?
End of 2026.When does his free agency come up?
Perfect timing.End of 2026.
I'd rather wait the extra year, get him for nothindoesn't matter these days.
Often the year before is best for a club if they are going to lose them, as they can demand draft capital rather than just compensation.
You would get more for Butters in a trade than a single pick in compo
they pay overs to keep vic kidsEnd of 2026.
I agree, but if Port see the writing on the wall, then they may want to act earlier (and with someone else if we don't want to engage)I'd rather wait the extra year, get him for nothin
2024 we had on avg 16 players unavailable for vast majority of season we saw impact of even slightest injury made on freo and blues late last yearWhat drugs are you lot on? We just finished bottom of the ladder with a historically bad 2 wins, & then lost near 1500 games of experience & replaced it with NONE. What possible reasoning do any of you have to think the team will go better???
We are laughing at names that would, EASILY, be walk up starting 18 players in our side, especially if the same old, injury prone blokes get injured again, which they have done consistently now for 3 years. If we are laughing at Markov, Stringer, MacRae, Martin, Parfitt - then the other teams must be rolling on the floor when we name Ryan, Dow, Kmac
who in the group U24 are you expecting to make a giant leap? Dow??? Ryan?? Sonsie??? Gibcus after missing 2 years??
If we took out just 4 players - Lynch, Prestia, Valustin, Kmac - then the remaining 40 players left have played a combined LESS GAMES than the blokes that that just walked out the door. What possible reasoning could anyone actually have that this team will win more games, not less? Your optimism and your reasoning don't add up
BINGO !!!!2024 we had on avg 16 players unavailable for vast majority of season we saw impact of even slightest injury made on freo and blues late last year
What numb skull would dismiss that as a factor , what if we were to have a good run with availability
Big fan of Ed and would love to have him but don't think we'd be that appealing for any 26-year-old at present. I imagine he'll be a priority signing for the Dogs.Ed Richards would be a perfect addition to our midfield. Speed, skill, versatility and a lefty.
Is a restricted free agent this year.
Agree.Big fan of Ed and would love to have him but don't think we'd be that appealing for any 26-year-old at present. I imagine he'll be a priority signing for the Dogs.
Yeah probably. We could offer him the most coin though.Big fan of Ed and would love to have him but don't think we'd be that appealing for any 26-year-old at present. I imagine he'll be a priority signing for the Dogs.
You spelled Harley wrong.Agree.
Keep cap space for Jagga
But we shouldn't.Yeah probably. We could offer him the most coin though.
Reid is not just your normal player though. There was a reason he was ranked pick 1 more than 12 months out from his draft year.I went through the last 10 years of drafts and there are only a handful where I would take that deal. Particularly when Reid has only had 1 year so I am assuming he is as good as he is touted to be. So in essence the base rate probability is no deal.
