FANTASIA MAKES INTENTIONS KNOWN

Essendon’s trade capital with Orazio Fantasia has taken a hit, with the contracted forward reportedly telling the club he will not be returning to the club in 2021.

Fantasia has requested a trade to Port Adelaide, but Essendon list boss Adrian Dodoro has so far driven a hard bargain on any potential move.

9 News Adelaide reported on Friday night that Fantasia had told the club just how intent he was on getting to the Power.

Orazio Fantasia will not return to Essendon next season under any circumstances,” reporter Jack Berketa said.

“It’s understood he’s told both list manager Adrian Dodoro and new coach Ben Rutten that he does not want to return to Melbourne in 2021.”

One trick pony. McGuane nails it

Because he’s a capable key forward that can ruck if required and will provide cover for us in two positions that we are vulnerable in if we suffer injuries. And he would be coming relatively cheap with GC covering a chunk of his wages.
He has a tank and importantly is physical, jumps at the footy and isn’t moved easily. Traits we all were screaming for from an out of form Chol late in the season just gone.

I don’t buy the story that he won’t play ruck. His best form has had him in that 90%forward-10%ruck role.

Lynch’s best year before becoming a tiger came with Wright as his wingman. Wright kicked 30 odd two years in a row playing CHF to Lynch at FF.
Lynch said he learnt so much about playing key forward when he arrived at Richmond because they had no one at GC showing him anything like what Riewoldt & co could. Until then he had just relied on natural ability. This would suggest there is plenty of development left in Wright as well.

We are talking about a late 3rd- 4th round pick being used here.

here’s a good read on Wright:

Has said he hates rucking, and more importantly, can’t get a game at Gold Coast.
Gold.
Coast.
He’s bin material

I've lost a fair bit of respect for Dunkley lately. Apparently he wants out of the Dogs because he perceives a culture of less than professional work standards. Then he nominates Essendon of all Clubs as his preferred choice of destination. Bizarre.
Finals/ Premiership success obviously not high on his list

Chris Scott needed that sign plonked at chf in the grand final so his team mates knew where Dangerfield was , because he was that quite

Don’t disagree re list management. The club is doing a great job.
When Jack goes at the end of 2021 (Likely?) we may have a problem though. Need a plug in replacement. A 350k CHF that’s good for 30 odd Goals + a year might not look too shabby. If Nank goes down early in 2021 we have a problem that Chol is not the answer for. CCJ hasn’t played a game. It’s a risk.

350k isn’t a huge sum. I obviously rate Wright a little higher than most, including the club lol
If JR gets injured my first replacement player will be Caddy. I'm guessing that because CJ didn't get delisted the club have confidence in him for 2021. The moment Jack retires we put all available money into whoever is best available. I don't mind Himmelbug. From what I have seen of Wright, he can play but we've got it covered this year which sounds reactive but what if Jack plays OK next year and has his contact extended. We don't need a Wright or a Hogan.

And on Treloar, I watched a bit of David King and the boys discussing this situation. I don't know whether it was just for the sake of making a conversation but King's position was almost Trump like in it's disregard for inconvenient facts. All of which Joey and Dal Santo kept returning to. Collingwood has actually done the rest of the competition a favour by setting out in gory detail to every other Club the gold standard in how to destroy an organisation's culture and integrity. What King wouldn't hear was the fact that if Collingwood was so concerned about Treloar's mental health because of his separation from family, the only two Clubs that he could possibly be traded to would have been Gold Coast or Brisbane. When, surprisingly, that couldn't eventuate, Collingwood's position completely disintegrated because moving him to a non Queensland Club left Treloar in the same situation family wise as he already was at Collingwood. Only whatever mental health issues Collingwood were alluding to would then become someone else's problem.

I have as much sympathy for Collingwood here as I have for the Swans who now have to carry a heavily backloaded Buddy contract for a few more years. There are other examples out there too. It's not Treloar's responsibility to rescue Collingwood from their own stupidity, nor should he back down from a contract that he would have expected to have secured his financial future for the rest of his life. Let's see how successful Collingwood are in getting Grundy to shave a couple of hundred thousands from his long term contract, thereby giving Treloar a tangible example of an individual placing his Club before himself.

Definite no to Treloar, can't take on a 28 year old with bad hammies on a 5 year deal, even if Collingwood paid 300k per year, that's still too much of a risk
Would love to get Dunkley through the door, but no way we'd be able to fit in his pay requirements

On Fox tonight they said that Peter Wright will go to Essendon for a 4th round pick with Gold Coast paying some of his salary.
I would 100% be on board with us trying to pull off a deal like that, good cover for Soldo and potentially a long term replacement for Jack.
That is super low risk, low(ish) salary and potentially high reward as a former Pick 8 in 2014
Essendon getting Peter Wright?
Looking forward to the media claiming he is there missing link and they'll easily be final 8 next season, probably top 4 and a premiership contender.

Treloar ain't taking a hair cut. He's basically already done that a couple of times. Taken way unders which is why it's so much towards the end.

You'd think for us to be interested the Pies would have to pay between 200-300k per year.

Can't see them doing that. Will just flog him off to whichever teams can pay him the most.

Whilst he's saying he only wants to play for a contender that will change the further trade period goes along.

Reports are Pies to pay 150k tops.
Basically forking out 750k per year with Hammy & Mindset issues.
The important issue is if the Pies think it will effect him then why do they expect other clubs to think otherwise?
For 150k less its not going away.
Glad we're not close to being involved.

Me too. Focus on getting Casboult now.

Reckon a lot of how much the Pies are willing to pay will come down to what sort of return draft asset wise they are getting back.

Obviously would only be able to go up to a certain point to make it worth it but end of the day they have handled this terribly.

How weird is it following a stable successful club

If trelol was available for 600k p season dimma would cancel his holiday to pick him up.

Especially if richmond keep the first round pick

blooze are gonna give a first for aaron saad lol remember when we were pissed off when we gave a first for prestia

Yep...

IDK if dimma would want to change the structure by bringing in a non kpp, caddy.

Wouldn't be surprised if cCJ is next in line post suspension

PSD only then i'd consider.

I really disagree with that, if the club wanted him and believed we were able to get a deal done for him we would’ve made a move by now.
