lol 12 and 19

no way

12 alone yeah sure..

12 and 19 is equal to about pick-4. We’d probably want a late 3rd Rounder back which brings it to a value of about pick 6-7, which is the least GWS would demand.

I’d be in favour of trading Soldo and Castagna. Miller is showing great signs as a relief ruck. And Ryan looks really promising and by 2023 will be preferred to Soldo as he can play KPf and ruck. Then we have Balta as well…. and Biggy or Collina as ‘break glass in case of emergency’ options.

So if Nank is fit then surely Soldo is wondering if he’ll get a senior game in 2023, and the answer is no.

Soldo would get us a pick in the mid-late 30’s and save us $350k in cap space. George is probably on $300k, so let him go for whatever it takes and pay $100k of his salary. So we clear out $550k of salary cap and get in a valuable draft pick we can package up for points to Brisbane for Ashcroft.

So package up our 2nd (pick 30), 3rd pick (pick 48) and Soldo pick (pick 38) which is 1,400 points for Brisbane’s first (pick 15?) which is 1,112 points.

So that gives us 12, 15 and 19 (Norf’s 2nd).

Then trade 15 and a future first for Taranto and keep pick 12 and 19.

12, George, @ RCD FOR Taranto and a 3rd back
Laughable. George and RCD are hacks. GWS would not go near them. Why do people think you can trade pigshit for strawberry jam?

rather go deeper in finals than worry about whether we have a low enough pick for tim terantoe
Oh for sure, certainly didn’t mean we should tank finals to ensure we get Taranto

I personally think if the pick we give up would get us a quality young key forward we should forget Taranto and go to the draft

Given the common belief is that we're trading aggressively this off season, yet we still need to make 3 selections (I know they changed it to 2 during Covid, not sure if it's still at 2), we probably have some left of field players earmarked.

Tylar Young from our VFL is a pretty good chance you'd think especially with Ben Miller playing more of a Ruck role now.

.... Unless Essendon pick him first.

Only player on our list that GWS would have any interest in that we would allow to walk out would be Soldo

In:Taranto + Hopper
Out: #12+#19+Soldo
You may be right and Soldo is also from Canberra which would help them a lot.

.... But I wouldn't be seperating Balta, Soldo and Čolina and I doubt they want to be seperated - I wouldn't be so confident that we would "allow" Soldo to leave.

Serious question R2R, if you were GWS, would you do that? Personally, I’d laugh heartily if that was offered. If it was the other way around, I’m sure you’d do the same Mate

Like the kid.

With the signing and emergence of Miller as a 2nd ruck and Ryan showing great form in the twos and even Biggie showing some good signs in the ruck I'd definitely be shopping Soldo. Twomey reckons they'll be chasing a ruck in the off season too. If we can involve him in the trade for Taranto that'd be a great result. Brayden Preuss went for pick 31 a couple years ago and Soldo is bettter than him. We could possibly get away with 30, Soldo and a sweetener for Taranto.

I will always love Soldo but you're severely overrating him here.

Taranto is doing to cost a good first round pick as a starting point - it's fanciful to suggest otherwise.

You get what you pay for.

People suggesting trading Soldo might want to consider the possibility of Toby Nankervis going down with a PCL or similar injury early season. Unless we bring in a Lloyd Meek for example, who exactly is an AFL ready first ruck on our list over Soldo at that point?
