We gave up pick 6 and a future 2nd round for Prestia and pick 24

Taranto would have to have a similar value to Prestia. To be honest if we do go far in finals I’m not sure how we get it done unless GWS really do desperately need to get him off their books

I was ropable at the time. Pick 6 seemed way overs for guy like Prestia.

Proved to be a bargain and that’s the price of bringing proven talent. Two picks gets us a gun player, instead of a combination of Higgins, lemon, silky butterfly, RCD, Dow, CCJ.

Whoever managed that list build should be sacked , a joke the money these overrated duds are on , kelly Whitfield cigs lol
The (AFL) mismanagement, continually topping up, high in the draft, "young future stars" as opposed reasonable trading for solid 3- 4 yr players has pyramid scheme collapse looks about.

The address through player trades has to come. Bobby Hill goes. GWS need a solid running forward. They already need a ruckman. To be honest, a high draft pick won't help them in these two areas.

I could see soldo being part of the equation for Taranto plus a r2, provides premiership qty and standards they don’t have
Soldo is a proven AFL quality ruckman who is in his first year back from injury after playing a major part in our premiership run. Nank is not the same type of ruckman and offers more as an extra midfielder but is less effective against taller ruckman.
GWS may find more value in Soldo as a tall tap ruckman who can feed the ball to their strong midfield, RFC would be unlikely to trade him unless it is to allow him to advance his career. Would Soldo want to move to Sydney?,that will be the crux to any possible trade.

Apparently the kid is Killing it in the SANFL and Himmelburg resigning today….. could a potential trade/push out be on the cards …?

No way could we afford both Taranto and Hopper., particularly with Cotch and JRoo likely to go around again. We need serious cash to pay Bolton, Rioli and Balta in coming years.

The only way we’d afford it would be if Dusty left and another club took on his $1.2m for 2-years. Then we could seriously front end their contracts.

I think we could, but it would be unwise. I think it would find us in a position that Collingwood were in, Melbourne are in and Carlton are about to find themselves in.

The three most lucrative contracts (Dusty, Lynch and Prestia - the first two being back ended) end in 2024.

It would require some juggling in the initial phase, but you could significant back end the last two - four years of the contract for both and do it that way.

But you have a massive risk in trying to pay emerging talent coming out of contract in that span and beyond.

Carlton will find that now with the likes of McKay, Curnow, TDK, Silvagni, Motlop, Pittonet, McGovern and Docherty all out of Contract next year.

Adelaide aren’t letting a contracted (2023) Fogarty go anywhere and they’d be ****ing stupid if they did. Even if SA boy Fogarty wants out the Crows will either hold him to his contract or ask for the world in return, full forwards don’t grow on trees and the Racist is near the end.

While he’d be a good get I just can’t see it happening at all.

Soldo could be their Shane Mumford mark II

Might have been a chance when he was out of the side early in the year but if it was ever in then it’s dead and buried now.
