And you'll probably read that Collingwood are leading the race if you read their forums.I read on a completely different forum that someone says they have info we are leading the race for Taranto. Anyone here heard anything?
Bf rule 101 , don’t read the Collingwood boardAnd you'll probably read that Collingwood are leading the race if you read their forums.
Footy forums aren't exactly impartial. The same thing would be happening on the North and Essendon boards re Clarko.
Given these scenarios are a 50-50 chance, people love claiming to be ITK given they're pretty good odds. Having been on this forum for a decade, I can count on 1 hand who's "mail" I take seriously.
Quick question about this coming week. I know that this is a draft question not a trade, but not sure where the other thread is. My understanding is that we have the first pick of the second night at the moment. Is that right? Pick 19 from North... So there should be a 1 week death ride going on for Saturday? West Coast highly unlikely to get Geelong at GMHBA, so we need Gold coast to get up over North, by a margin greater than 6% points less than the probable margin between Geelong and WCE? Am I reading that right?
Sorry for the compound question... Follow the bouncing ball....
By this stage of the season, it takes approx 18-20 points to make up 1%. So if North win, or lose by about 20 goals less than the Eagles, our (Ashcroft-adjusted) #20 becomes #21. Stretch it out to #22 for a potential North PP.6% won’t be made up. If Norf lose they will finish bottom unless the Eagles lose by about 200 points.

David Mundy reminds me of the Silence of the Lambs guy.
Mundy wouldn’t be taking games off Aarts next season he’d be taking games off Sonsie. Is in no way a need
If he’s not going to play AFL and it’s really for coaching why not just offer him an assistant coaching role and not lose a spot on the list on a 37 year old?Mundy would not be taking games off Sonsie. That is nonsense, if both are available and right Sonsie gets the gig always but they are different types so can't see them competing for the same spots to be honest. Mundy would be support/backup and senior coaching/leadership. If he was playing out of his skin, okay there may be case for a certain role, but really his primary role would be to help the youngters
The other thing people have not considered is JR and Cotch rookied as veterans in terms of list spot avenues
Aside from the suggestion of recruiting a player who is behind our own players we have retired. If we win the flag this year I would take Mundy in the PSD just for 1 year. Even if he played 15 games and was a backup he would add depth and hed be someone you could depend on in finals. Rebuilds are good but when you have a chance at putting a premiership cup in the cabinet you take it. If he was the last person on our list it wouldnt be a bad thing. Ie. Would you prefer Aarts on your list or Mundy. Id take Mundy even at 37.
True but I would imagine the club still would have forecast these two would play on. And for more than 300kIt doesn’t really ‘free up’ cap space, as the salary cap is managed many years in advance. So if expectations were that Jack was going to be retired end of 2022, then paying him $300k in 2023 is not freeing up anything as it’s $300k they thought would be assigned to a new draftee on $100k. So Jack going on costs $200k, doesn’t free it up.
So I’m not saying we don’t sign him or Cotch as I definitely think we should, but it’s not freeing up money if players go beyond their expected retirements even if they take significant pay cuts.
Having said that, the retirements of Caddy, Astbury and Lambert (and Rance) ahead of what would have been expected would have freed up a lot of cash as they retired ahead of expectations.

We’d want to be getting something back to cough up those picks I reckon. I’d rather trade a future second as an example as I’d hate to see us trade out of the top end of this years draftI think it’s a fair assessment to say Taranto will be leaving the giants and the race is down Collingwood and Tigers.
With pies having to cough up for the new De Goey contract, also fairly certain buyers of Mcstay and Bobby Hill, I would be suggesting that they will be offering a lower contract what tigers are able to offer right now.
It’s hard to see why tigers wouldn’t be favourites for Tim Taranto.
I think an offer of our Picks 12, & 19 will get the deal done. Which trumps any offer Collingwood are able to put up.
Taranto, Prestia and Bolton midfield is starting to sound very handy.
There is the issue of Tigers having to take a minimum of three draft picks aswell which will mean we will require most likely a third round pick back possibly. We’d want to be getting something back to cough up those picks I reckon. Knowing our success in the 40's i'd offer our future 1st as part of the deal for picks 39 & 42/46(hill).There is the issue of Tigers having to take a minimum of three draft picks aswell which will mean we will require most likely a third round pick back possibly.
Which would probably be GWS pick 39 as it stands right now. Or they may flip a pick back that they might gain from bobby hill, Bruhn or hopper deals…
Collingwood currently hold 14, 42, 46, 48.
GWS hold 3,21, 39 57,58
