Gold Coast aren't throwing in pick 7 just to move Bowes off the list. They'll be expecting a first round pick and possibly a later pick to comeback their way.

So for us to be involved we'd likely have to trade say 12 & 30 to get 7 & Bowes, then to land either Taranto or Hopper we'd likely have to trade 7 as a minimum.

So we'd end up with Taranto or Hopper plus Bowes and pick 19 for and use more cap space than we would just trading for Taranto and Hopper.

Before you say we just do the Taranto trade first, GWS will know we're dealing with Gold Coast and will just delay the deal knowing that we are getting 7.
I disagree with you there, I think its a genuine salary acquisition move. They might ask for some late picks back if they have academy prospects, but I dont think they will be expecting a first round pick back.

Yup don’t try and get to cute and go with a plan and execute it

We have the plan, we know what it will cost and are in a position where we can afford to pay it given our draft hall last season

Like the 2016 trade period all over again
Stick to the plan
Whose the third man? That's all I wanna know !

How do they fit them all in if nobody is retiring? It’s like they’ve got a bottomless pit if money. It’s all a bit suss
They've had a couple retire in Higgins and Dalhaus.
Most likely Selwood as well, I dont think there's any cap issued at Geelong.
Players often take less for the sake of success.

Higgins retired Daulhaus will be gone, Narkle gone, sign the likes of Selwood Hawkins Touhy and Smith to reduces contracts like we've done with Jack and Trent and they have cap space to make deals.

I would have neither, we have Lynch anyway so it is irrelevant
And what happens when Lynch gets injured.
Do we rely on Ryan and Bauer who are both not proven at AFL level?

...or do we rely on 35 year old Jack Riewoldt to be the number 1 target?

Cause I remember that happened a few times this year and we lost.

Yeah cos ******* Geelong is the dream destination

Gimme a ******* break. Its an hour drive from Melbourne ffs & its not that great living there. Know people who have lived in both Geelong & Melbourne and none of them miss it. Its not Miami ffs

No one is taking $250k a year less to save themselves an hour drive to go surfing.

I’d be very surprised if many of the Geelong players lived in Geelong itself. They would be living in the nicer suburbs of Geelong like maybe Highton or along the coast like Torquay, Jan Juc or on farms in Moriac like Tom Hawkins.

Geelong may only be an hour from Melbourne but who would want to have to drive that damn highway with all the bloody roadworks all the time. The traffic is horrendous.

Good listen on the AFL website, 'copy cats', AFL daily with Parrot.

I strongly dislike him, but the way he speaks about our list, he knows us better than most journalists pretending they know us.

Acknowledged that Gibcus looked lost, which IMO, you'd need to be a really close observer to know that. On paper, aspiring 18 year old high quality kid. In reality, caught shitless many times this year and will get better for it.

Essentially they said, we're doing a Geelong and investing in this group again, adding two quality players alongside them. Maybe manage some of our boys the way the cats did with Danger.

It's a good listen.

The Geelong trade for Josh Caddy getting better with Narkle's delisting
Josh Caddy + pick 53 (Jack Graham) to Richmond for pick 24 (Parfitt) + pick 60 (Narkle)

People will s**t on this kid, but I'd seriously look at him if he came cheap enough.

Sam Weideman is not a kid anymore, he is 25. He is as much a known commodity as Josh Schache who is the same age. Depending on just Reiwoldt and Lynch next year (and beyond) is fraught with danger. But Weideman? Only as a last resort.

Last year when they moved on Brodie they dealt 19 and 2 picks in the 60s for a future 2nd and 4th.

If they're offering pick 7 you'd expect they want either a later first this year or future 1st next year to do the deal, otherwise they're shooting themselves in the foot list build wise.

If Geelong land Bowes I'd fully expect the Cats R1 pick to be heading the other way. Something along the lines of Bowes & 7 for 18 & 36 or a future first & 36.

There is no way the AFL will tick off a deal of Bowes and 7 for garbage picks as the 16 other clubs wouldn't stand for it whether it was Geelong or any other club.

There has been some phenomenal money made by people associated with the Cats in land deals out on that side of town.

Good work by them, however they are going about it. I’m sure we are using the full weight of our clubs connections when recruiting also.
Care to name names

Cant agree with the gibcus sentiment

Did he make mistakes and get beaten? Absolutely.

Did he look "lost"?... no

Lets not forget after the first couple of rounds we were literally frothing as he looked ready made and was almost flawless.

Hes going to be a star, no two ways about it imo.

... I am too foolish to read the site rules?

Facebook’s only concern is how much money they make. Left and right wing propaganda to them is just about engagement to make them more money.

Exactly the more out there bull$h*t the post the better for them.

Destroy people's lives and society, meh who cares, we made money.

At least now people are starting to understand how appalling social media is, and in some cases verging on evil in how they work.

I guess we will see. It's been reported that the AFL will be more open to the salary acquisition trades.
I think we will be surprised at how wild it could get.
