spot on - it's not just about one deal, so many other factors in play (cap space and how you'd use it, draft points, player attitude, how much we rate the player, relationship with the other party and wanting to keep them sweet if we already have eyes on a future deal...)I disagree, if we rate the player we tend to get value for them, CCJ for pick 19. If we don't rate the player as highly then we do let them go (Butler & Higgins to saints) but I don't believe it hurts us, if anything other clubs are more willing to deal with us because we aren't wasting their time. (like Essendon).
We play a long game, if we are good to deal with, then when a bigger name player wants to come to us, its more likely the deal gets done. We didnt pay overs for Taranto, I think it was a deal that worked for both clubs. I'm just hoping we get Hopper as well, which hearing from both parties I reckon a deal will happen.
