Do you ever get tired of telling everyone else how dumb they are and how you know everything?
Never called anyone dumb.

I just find it hypocritical to rant and rave how dumb RFC is, they don't know how to trade, we're paying overs, Blair doesn't know what he's doing etc and the same people don't even know when our highest paid player is contracted to.

It's not an insult to suggest people get their facts right before going off half cocked - it would enhance the discourse in here if anything.

I’ve done the sums previously… it’s not enough.
My sums had them being around 700 points in deficit and that was using ALL of their draft picks this year and next.

Ashcroft and Fletcher will require 2,400 and 700 odd points. Dunkley will require this years first and a F1. Plus Gunston as a FA will take away the McStay pick or Lions will need to give a late pick for Gunston.

So with their current suite of picks they are stuffed as we’ve set the precedent with 12 & 19 for TT . A small little taste of sweet revenge for the EF debacle.

They will need to either get Bowes and pick-7 (seems unlikely as he’s coming to Vic I think), or they desperately need to trade out a high quality player.

Unless the AFL change their rules and allow the trading of picks 2-years in advance …. wouldn’t put it past them in order to help a QLD club thrive.

Or they could come to the reasonable conclusion that Fletcher's nothing special and not bother with him.

GWS have a glut of picks already 3,12,19,21,44,61,62 and they will get 31 as part of Hopper plus what ever they get from the Cats for Bruhn.

We have to get at least 44,61,62 back from these pricks.
We'll get 21.

Just realised we traded 38,40, ~51 (2022) for 27 last year even though we already had 28 & 29. Lol we had so many picks last year we were giving them away and now we basically have nothing this year. Not sure why we gave ~51 in hindsight.

Also we probably should have got van rooyen at 17 looks a good key forward we need in the future.
Yeah, 27 last year only became Sonsie. What a blunder.

I hated that swap of picks we got absolutely reamed there. Spot on about Van Rooyen too I thought for sure we would've taken him then. I'm happy to be proven wrong but Browne is the player I'm least excited about from last year's bonanza. Seeing him at training and playing Magoo's I'm yet to see anything that stands out about him and not sure he's gonna make it. Hopefully comes back and smashes preseason.
We didn't get reamed, we got Sonsie.

Brown has no e. Has a lot of talent, just needs to harden up a bit.

Van Rooyen hasn't played a game yet. Had his arse handed to him by Biggie Nyuon.

Wrong on both.

Lynch end of 2025
Dusty end of 2024

Maybe if you read my post a bit closer you would have noticed the part where I said end of next season.

So right on both.

I cant handle you all during the season, the negative vibes in the game day threads used to drive me into an early grave.
I might hang around a bit more next year though. I'm pretty optimistic on our chances if we maintain a relatively healthy list.

It’s too bi polar in here during the season. But ****en drafting and trading sucked me right back in. Can’t wait til it’s done and I actually be productive again.

You've made that clear. Some people don't live and breath it like you do. It'd be boring if everyone was a know it all in here.

We wont get #44 unless its a trade for Hopper + #31 +F1
GWS are trying to get toby Bedford for #44 but melbourne want more but if they do end up accepting #44 then GWS will keep #31

61 or 62 are nothing picks as the draft would be lucky to have 60+ players selected this year so we can select players there anyway

Coming back from yesterday and seeing you gotta read 30 pages!

oh boy dunk GIF

Why??

Can't see us using those picks in the draft.

We will have to shift some form rookie to main list

No point in using late picks on draft fodder

Dan McStay - $600k a year
Tim Taranto - $700k a year

FMD !!!

world gone mad

Just do what I do. come in during the week to pass the time... then nothing on weekends.

Yes. Taranto was off contract. GWS salary cap is a mess. They literally can't afford him.

Especially not anything close to the contract offered. He was a must trade for GWS. They would've talked themselves into a half eaten bag of chips for him given cap space. He wasn't playing for GWS in 2023 no matter what happened.

Giving up maximum value was dumb. The problem with being so nice to GWS now is they get to dig their heels in on the contracted Hopper who's already on their books for next year. I guarantee playing nice is not coming back our way on this deal.

The time to dig the heels in on the trade return from our end was on Taranto and they blew it.

This. It's day one of the ****ing trade period. Let Taranto know we will get the deal done but don't settle for easiest deal possible that early in the trade period.

Taranto will prove that 12 and 19 was worth it but if you can get a better deal then do so. There is always a desperate buyer elsewhere who might offer you a pick upgrade or exchange of picks that could suit all parties.

It was also the biggest leverage we had in regards to the Hopper deal.

This is more proof and how the draft is viewed by the recruiters.

No way this happens last year.

We literally traded pick 38/40 and future third rounder for Pick 27 last year.

Shallow draft this year, Melbourne traded 43 and 53 as they had no intention to use them. Any junk picks we get will likely fall down the order pretty quickly once clubs start passing.
We are pretty good at the back end of a draft.

Wrong. Nothing wrong with the depth of this years draft. It's talent at the top end (lack of elite prospects) that is why it's being labelled a weak draft. No different to 2016 in this regard, another draft that was deemed weak, yet will go down as one of the greatest despite only having a couple of star players, two who now play for Richmond. The so called superdraft of 2018 you could barely name a single player outside the top 10, which is probably the best top 10 from that decade.

They wanted to keep Taranto, so they've definitely got room for one of them to stay.

Yet he didn't want to leave Sydney at the start of the year but they never came through with the contract that he wanted or played him through the midfield enough.

Actions speak louder than words.

Dees a getting Grundy for pick 27 lol salary dump we need to stick tuff on Hopper.

Not all cap dumps are created equal. Grundy is being pushed out the door with some of his salary being paid. GWS would prefer to keep both but with Taranto have offered less then value and Hopper is contracted.

If they were pushing Hopper out the door you’d have an argument but it’s clear they’re not.

I still can’t get my head around this Bowes trade. Surely if there’s 3 clubs in the running the trade from GC doesn’t need to be so juicy.

I don’t know why it’s not
A) Bowes for free but take his wage.
B) Bowes for late pick but take his wage.
C) Bowes for mid pick

Etc etc why start at pick 7 in the draft?? It’s mental.

And why aren’t the shit clubs who struggle to pay the minimum cap just going for it and then using the pick to land a good kid??

I don’t get it!! Lol
