lol
If we commit to him but then leave him hanging to hand on to a speculative pick like the nuffies on here want he won’t be joining us as a free agent next year.
Would be looking elsewhere

Correct!!

Remember Dunkley wanted to go to the Bummers 2-years ago? Dodo 🦤 couldn’t get it done so has he chosen Essendon second time around?

Papley desperately wanted to get to Carlton a few years back . SOS couldn’t get it done, and he has since re-committed long-term to Sydney.

Last year Lobb wanted to go back to GWS. McCartney couldn’t get it done, now he wants out again but this time to the Dogs.

Neale wanted to get back to Freo …. the deal fell
over and he has since re-committed to Lions etc…

So if we miss Hopper this year, someone else (Geesook) will get him for free next year. In other words, the deal will get done as Richmond are a good club that looks after its players.

Brisbane will have 15-34-35-45-71 this year, 15-34-53-71 next year. I would assume Dunkley will cost 15 + 15

A bid on Ashcroft at pick 1 will cost 2400 pts, the combined value of the remaining picks this year is 1440 pts leading to a deficit of 960 pts.

The combined value of their remaining picks next year is 804 pts which still leaves a deficit of 156 pts.

I can't find any details in the rules about deficits being carried over for more than 1 year (surplus pts can be carried over to offset future deficits) My understanding would be that if a club can't afford to bid then the AFL wouldn't allow it. (something like how we got Cumberland and Martyn from their academy)

The above also hasn't factored in a likely bid for Fletcher at 18 which would see them go further into deficit to the tune of 800 more pts.

The only way I can see them being able to do the deals is to trade out a player/s for pick 18 or better.

I’m not sure you’ve factored in losing compo or for Gunston either….or giving the Hawks pick-45. Lions are in massive trouble

No, I did not.

If the Gunston trade is included then (by my calcs) they'll have to trade players for the equivalent of pick 12

need u here during the season melting it up with us prodigy
I cant handle you all during the season, the negative vibes in the game day threads used to drive me into an early grave.
I might hang around a bit more next year though. I'm pretty optimistic on our chances if we maintain a relatively healthy list.

Minnow teams like throwdogs and aints going after mediocre players in Liam Jones,Rory lobbe and zaine cordy while the tigers get the cream in tarranto and hopper these 2 teams should fold

I go to most games so luckily miss the game day thread

GWS have a glut of picks already 3,12,19,21,44,61,62 and they will get 31 as part of Hopper plus what ever they get from the Cats for Bruhn.

We have to get at least 44,61,62 back from these pricks.
We've delisted no one, I don't see us even participating in this year's draft at this rate haha

Just realised we traded 38,40, ~51 (2022) for 27 last year even though we already had 28 & 29. Lol we had so many picks last year we were giving them away and now we basically have nothing this year. Not sure why we gave ~51 in hindsight.

Also we probably should have got van rooyen at 17 looks a good key forward we need in the future.

I hated that swap of picks we got absolutely reamed there. Spot on about Van Rooyen too I thought for sure we would've taken him then. I'm happy to be proven wrong but Browne is the player I'm least excited about from last year's bonanza. Seeing him at training and playing Magoo's I'm yet to see anything that stands out about him and not sure he's gonna make it. Hopefully comes back and smashes preseason.

Shallow draft this year, Melbourne traded 43 and 53 as they had no intention to use them. Any junk picks we get will likely fall down the order pretty quickly once clubs start passing.
We are pretty good at the back end of a draft.

what's up with grundy

has that campaigner been injured or just not playing 1's?

barely seen him since he signed that mega deal
Injured.
Think he will be fine for next year I believe.

Yeah no one.

Only Lambert, Caddy, Edwards and Parker.

This is like Trade Radio in here - does anyone pay attention? In the past hour we've delisted no one, Dusty's contract was ending next year and Paddy Dow was out of contract.

All of this but apparently Blair Hartley has no idea.

This board is a shambles.

Do you ever get tired of telling everyone else how dumb they are and how you know everything?
