TRUE>Lets not forget those 37 years where no one wanted to come to us so we are not that big in the football eyes. Brown was the only one from memory and that was on big coin. Lynch the next but that was after we won the flag.
Well, not exactly true that nobody wanted to come to us. Kane Johnson, Troy Chaplin, Darren Gaspar, Paul Broderick, Leon Cameron, Mick Gale, Greg Dear, Ivan Maric, Greg Stafford, Bachar Houli, Rory Hilton, Troy Simmonds etc were all pretty highly rated recruits who came to Tigerland very eagerly, not to mention a plethora of others that flopped, just off the top of my head.

But that was then and this is now. We're incomparable to the basket case of years ago. We are now a destination - not the only possible destination mind you, but a very enticing one nonetheless.

Posters throwing out lines like "besides, they'll most likely end up at Collingwood, or Essendon, or Hawthorn" (a) underestimate the pull of the modern Richmond FC, and (b) just don't understand the machinations of player agents and their desire and ability to get a player to a destination.

I haven’t seen this kid play but statistically he has been solid but isn’t setting the world on fire at VFL level. He’s a small forward that has kicked 13 goals from 9 games so far this year and doesn’t get a heap of footy. I would argue if Seth or mansell were playing VFL their output would be much better. I think if we are going for a small forward we need one that can kick 35-40 goals. We already have that in Bolton. I would prefer to get young mids in and Bolton spend 80% if his time inside 50.
He is however in his 2nd season of senior footy and only turns 20 at the end of the year.

He’s still touching the pill 12-18 times most games and loves tackling.

Absolutely, I’m not knocking the kid, as I said I haven’t actually seen him play, he may well have some tricks we don’t see on a stat sheet. I just don’t see a small forward as priority. Would rather just see Bolton stationed there far more often and there were some really positive signs from MRJ before he got injured. Campbell is also only in his 2nd season having missed a heap of footy last year and looks to be someone that will play a lot of senior football.

Lockett was coming till the AFL fooked us over
imagine Lockett (110 goals in a side that finished 12th) playing at Full Forward instead of Jurica (21 goals in 13 games in a side that finished 4th) after Richo went down in 95. If the AFL didn't block that we probably win the flag or at least make the GF.

We currently have picks over 40 as follows:

40, 41, 50, 58, 69, 71

They are equivalent pick 11

If this clown Laura Kane makes them worthless points wise then I would hope we are adequately compensated.
Probably a forlorn hope but hopefully this is a bit of an ambit claim from Kane.

Clubs will say we plan 2 years in advance so make the changes in the third year; she is saying this year but then maybe compromise on next year.

Can only hope.

Needs to get the ball more Konstantly than that...

...I'll see myself out....

Jacob Konstanty profile from Rookie Me Central

Height: 176cm

Weight: 70kg

D.O.B: 09-11-2004

SNAPSHOT: “Arguably the best defensive forward in the crop, Konstanty manically applies pressure inside 50, creating opportunities for himself and teammates when the opposition makes mistakes.”

Having kicked four goals for Vic Country in an Under 17s match in 2021, it’s not surprising that Jacob Konstanty was a prospect with eyes on him from the very start of the year. He took a little bit of time to get going in 2022, but a switch from the midfield back to his usual small forward role saw him flourish.

Whilst Konstanty isn’t always a massive goal kicker each week, it could be argued he creates more goals than most with his forward half pressure, manically chasing down opposition defenders in an effort to create opportunities for himself or his teammates in the forward half. With an average of 5.8 tackles from his 14 NAB League games, his effort in this regard is consistent.

In his top-age campaign, Konstanty popped up as a dangerous asset throughout Vic Country’s 3-1 National Championships run, while helping Gippsland to a minor premiership and preliminary final berth en route to his richly deserved National Combine invite. Not bad for a soccer convert who was picked out of Drouin’s reserves.

STRENGTHS:

  • Clean hands
  • Evasiveness
  • Smarts
  • Tackling
  • Work rate

IMPROVEMENTS:

  • Consistency
  • Conversion

Whilst not a traditional small goal kicking forward, Konstanty presents as a prospect who fits well into the pressure forward prototype which is in vogue at the top level, with his NAB League season total of 81 tackles the second highest in the competition. He started the year in the midfield with mixed results early on, but started to flourish with a move to a more permanent forward role, showing off the same defensive work rate he did in the centre of the field, but also proving himself as a solid playmaker and scoring option himself. He continued on with this when representing Vic Country at the National Championships, getting himself a bag of three goals against the Allies, but arguably impressing most with his work rate and pressure game again, with his efforts allowing other teammates to score more heavily.

There’s a lot of impressive aspects to Konstanty’s game, but the area where he truly sets himself apart from other forward prospects is his tackling in the front half. For a player of his size, Konstanty’s ability to stick tackles on bigger opponents is quite admirable, able to pull down key position sized players just as easily as he can run down those closer to his own size. On the occasions that Konstanty can’t quite make it to apply a tackle, his efforts in pressuring opponents and forcing them towards the boundary are just as valuable, forcing mistakes by the opposition with his intensity.

With a lot being said about Konstanty’s pressure through the season, it’d be easy to think he was lacking in his scoreboard impact, but that’s not the case. Konstanty has only been held from hitting the scoreboard in one of his appearances this year, often following up on his own pressure work to manage this, he’s also showed some deft forward craft and footy smarts on his way to goal, with his front and centre work at a high level, but also showing a few times his smarts when positioning well to receive the footy out the back of a pack.

It helps his front and centre work, as well as his general crumbing ability, that Konstanty is clean below his knees at speed, rarely fumbling regardless of conditions. This cleanliness was also an asset when he was playing in the midfield, using his speed well to run onto loose balls from stoppages or packs and cleanly taking the footy, getting into space to send it forward.

With selection at the draft looking more likely than not, Konstanty would still benefit from improving some aspects of his game. Whilst he has consistently hit the scoreboard through the year, Konstanty does have a tendency to fade in and out of games at times. Naturally hitting the scoreboard often is promising, but Konstanty does still have some work to do on his conversion in front of the sticks.

In his draft year he averaged:

Gippsland
14.6 disposals
2.2 marks
5.8 tackles
1.2 goals

Vic Country
11.3 disposals
2.7 marks
3.3 tackles
1.3 goals

I saw Constanty play as a junior and thought he was a real small forward talent. I’d love to get him with a pick around 40.

Some of those are our picks for where we finished so rightfully we wouldn’t be compensated for those

The ones we actually traded in were worth pick 25 last time I checked (maybe a week or so ago). That I think we should be getting something for

Whoever mentioned ned moyle, I reckon bang on a good idea , if anyone we’d throw some crazy money , this guy , he’s FA too or get him thrown into a potential move for Dan rioli plus 2 x r1
We (rightly) don't throw crazy money at rucks. Crazy money is for key forwards and midfielders only.

Who u thinking , Silvio foshchini
Luke Bruest - but I just checked he was never on their list just right under their noses playing for NSW/ACT Rams who they had first dibs on- was thinking back to an interview I saw with Paul Roos once about how he let him slip and thought he must've been on their list....so no wonder no-one knew what the **** I was talking about because it turns out neither did I....:$

Bojangles17 named a bloke from Saints when you referred a 3 time premiership player. That threw me. Saints 3 x premiership player. More likely to shit gold than find one of them
