Re: 2011 Trade Predictions - Part II

Doubt that we would trade Pears - Our KP's are usually injured - Savage and an early draft pick is appealing - but if you changed Savage to Shiels - you have me thinking.

We do need a chunky monkey full-back but I rate Shiels very highly. In fact I think he's a future captain of the club. I will discuss it with the recruitment department tomorrow morning and revert.

Re: 2011 Trade Predictions - Part II

If Pears was on the table from Essendon , I could see a Mitch Brown + 3rd Rounder from West Coast being offered.

And I could see Essendon wetting themselves laughing at such a low offer. Pears will not be traded however hypothetically if he did want to go back to Perth the club would want Gaff or Shuey as compo to start with. That is how highly he is rated at Windy Hill.

thats what Ive been trying to tell others on D&T that we wouldnt play him with a break in his leg if we didnt think highly off him. If he gets a full pre season in he could be AA material.

Not that he made it because of injury but M. Jamison was able to do a full pre season this year and by mid season he was in AA calculations. Unless you do a pre season these days your gonna have a bad time, Pears didnt start his until when?

Re: 2011 Trade Predictions - Part II

Leon Davis for Andrew Strijk

That deal has no chance of getting up because Strijk just wouldn't be in the picture at Collingwood. Basically a deal that would net us your 26th best player who would be at best our 30th just won't get it done.

The most likely outcome would be Davis for an exchange of picks late in trade week after other deals have gone through and picks exchanged.

For instance if we trade McCarthy out for say a mid 3rd rounder (which we may not even use) we then trade that 3rd rounder and Davis for say your second round pick. Another option could be us sending across our second rounder with Davis in exchange for your first rounder. One final option I could see working is we send a pick across (say our second rounder) in the hope of getting a player like Swift or Stevens.

Re: 2011 Trade Predictions - Part II

Would you like me to change it to something more likely for example
Richmond - Bravely battles through the 2012 season to finish 9th
I guess it would be more of a certainty though...

If Fasolo and Blair can get games at Collingwood, Strijk would prove himself to be in front of at least these two.

Roughly pick 48 for Swift or Stevens! That most definitely wouldn't work, even if Davis was added.

Stevens and Swift's trade value is relatively low because they're not getting games at present. But, that doesn't justify such a low pick given their potential.
Both are worth more to WC than what Collingwood would give. Collingwood's 1st rounder at least would be expected if a deal were to transpire. Even still, that's less than what WC paid for them. If it were my call at WC, I wouldn't be trading Swift or Stevens, let alone for a mediocre pick that Collingwood has to offer.

Davis is a 30yo. He's not worth a whole early round pick upgrade.
He's worth trading out of Collingwood for the additional space on your list and to somewhat lighten the burden on your cap.

I don't see WC involving their 1st or 2nd round picks in any deal involving Davis, as he has only 1 or 2 years left.

If Davis feels he's the old guy that's going to be squeezed out, he will opt out of Collingwood and come to WA for a pick in the 60's.

That's exactly what I'm saying.

"This nobody"? A nobody to you it seems. Your ignorance is astounding. Such isn't LOL worthy, more rather just a shake of the head.

I want to let your comments re Strijk, Fasolo and Blair slide, however I just can't help myself.

No way will a bloke with 11 games to his name at the age of 23 push a rising star nominee (who coincidentally played more games in 2012 than Strijk has in his career to date) and possible 2 time premiership player out of the Collingwood line up anytime soon. It's like John McCarthy being traded to WC and pushing Nickoski or Gaff out of the best 22!!

IMO Davis has at least 2 season's left in him so pick 48 and him for one of two guys that are yet to prove anything at AFL level is all I personally would be willing to give, but I'm not involved so who really cares about the semantics of it.

Finally I do find the possibility of Davis being squeezed out due to "feeling like the old guy" quite lolworthy! The bloke only turned 30 3 months ago FFS (which makes him just 6 weeks older than Cox), he just won AA honours, we have no short term replacement for him and his wage would be $300,000 max which will drop significantly next year when he's on the vets list.

If he wants to go home for family reasons Collingwood will make sure he gets there. However I for one doubt he wants out I think it was just overblown crap from the media. Especially with his best mate at the club (Krakouer) and how much he seems to be enjoying his footy this year as part of the defensive team within the team.

The joke is your ignorance. Equally, I'm sure there are a lot of people who have heard of him. For those who know of his ability wouldn't think what I've said is a joke.

There's no need to mull over whether to let my comment slide or not, like it's personal; it's just my opinion.

Rising star nominee means nothing; as does 2 time premiership player. That's just fap. Your comparison is bollocks, too. What the individual brings is what matters, and Strijk is currently better than those two.

With Davis, Johnson, Jolly and Tarrant all around the vets age, is Davis assured of taking 1 of those spots? 1 or 2 of them won't be, and if it's Davis, as well as having someone younger coming through looking for game/development in the seniors time, Davis may see the writing on the wall.

Fasolo is a seriously good player. I don't know much about Strijk, but I'd be surprised if he turned out to be a better player.

Fair enough to the first comment though I only said it for the theatre much the same as your fapping nonsense :thumbsu:

Why is the comparison to McCarthy bollocks (given your explanation was so thorough)? What Strijk currently brings is off the fkcuing charts with his mind blowing solitary AFL game for the year which produced 2 kicks, 1 handball, 1 mark, 1 tackle and a whopping 20 supercoach points. They're Jack Anthony type numbers right there! I'm sure the highlights from his 19 WAFL matches this year were mental though bahahah.

FWIW if you look at Strijk's numbers in the WAFL this year they are almost identical to the numbers that Blair produced in the AFL. But I suppose Blair's just another of those players that's made to look better by a good side ay!

You need 10 years service at your particular club which rules Jolly's out. You can also have as many players on the vets list as you like. What changes is that the percentage that the wage is reduced gets smaller with every extra player i.e with 2 players its 50%, 3 its 33%, 4 its 25% and so on.

With Tarrant on the bare minimum next year (which he confirmed in the Hun earlier this year) due to his wife being a real life princess we have no need to put him on the vets list anyway. Meaning that if they choose to play on Davis and Johnson will be on there until Swanny joins them the year after.

Andrew fckuing Strijk indeed next you'll be saying Dalziell's as big a ball magnet as Swan
