Re: 2011 Trade Predictions - Part II

With Davis, Johnson, Jolly and Tarrant all around the vets age, is Davis assured of taking 1 of those spots?

Jolly does not qualify for a vets place at Collingwood.

Re: 2011 Trade Predictions - Part II

Tesseract - Strijk is slightly underrated but you can bet your bottom dollar any team would rather have Fasolo/Blair than the depth player in Strijk. You have a serious case of the rose coloured sunnies mate.

No rose coloured sunnies, just saying that at present, Strijk is a better player than both Fasolo and Blair. I'm not making a case for which player fits better or who clubs want for the future.
What clubs would rather is a different argument.

Re: 2011 Trade Predictions - Part II

Fair enough to the first comment though I only said it for the theatre much the same as your fapping nonsense :thumbsu:

Why is the comparison to McCarthy bollocks (given your explanation was so thorough)? What Strijk currently brings is off the fkcuing charts with his mind blowing solitary AFL game for the year which produced 2 kicks, 1 handball, 1 mark, 1 tackle and a whopping 20 supercoach points. They're Jack Anthony type numbers right there! I'm sure the highlights from his 19 WAFL matches this year were mental though bahahah.

FWIW if you look at Strijk's numbers in the WAFL this year they are almost identical to the numbers that Blair produced in the AFL. But I suppose Blair's just another of those players that's made to look better by a good side ay!

You need 10 years service at your particular club which rules Jolly's out. You can also have as many players on the vets list as you like. What changes is that the percentage that the wage is reduced gets smaller with every extra player i.e with 2 players its 50%, 3 its 33%, 4 its 25% and so on.

With Tarrant on the bare minimum next year (which he confirmed in the Hun earlier this year) due to his wife being a real life princess we have no need to put him on the vets list anyway. Meaning that if they choose to play on Davis and Johnson will be on there until Swanny joins them the year after.

Andrew fckuing Strijk indeed next you'll be saying Dalziell's as big a ball magnet as Swan

Strijk had a munted pre-season, and his year has accordingly played out like his pre-season. Injury has ruined his form this year in the WAFL. Also, he had heart surgery to correct a defect that was ailing him. This year has not been a testament to his ability.

I'm aware that you can have as many players on the vets list as you like. Also aware of the breakdown. Though, I mistook the years service which has to be at the same club.

Why would I be saying Dalziell next year when I want him off the team now.

Fasolo and Blair, while decent, have been made to look a whole lot better due to Collingwood's dominance. If you don't think so,.

You're another one of these every player in my team is better than every player in your team people.....You remind me of Teffy from our board, saying your worst players are superstars and worth gold. Personally I have never seen Strijk play and seeing I watch the majority of games, that says something in itself.

Also blair is 21, fasolo 19.....Strijk is a few weeks off 24. Both Blair and Fasolo have been pushing to get a game in arguably the best team in the league over the likes of didak and krakeur. They have then been holding their spots by exceptional skills and workrate. If fasolo was in my team and wc said they wanted him he would require wcs first round and a best 22 player eg mitch brown/scott selwood. If i had strijk on my list i dont even know if anyone would trade a fringe player for him. The fact of the matter is blair and fasolo have been a part of a structure that has won a premiership and is looking at a second.

Comparisons of how the players could end up:
Fasolo could be the next steven milne(as much as I hate him, he is one of the best small forwards in the game)
Blair could be the next Brent Harvey
Strijk could be the next.........haha Mitch Morton??

Fact is Strijk would just be a depth player, the other 2 could be genuine 200+ game players

I agree with all of that except the comparisons of players

This lol. You cannot seriously say that strijk is a better player than Blair and Fasolo when both have achieved so much more.

Strijk may end up being a very good player but at the moment, he is well behind the two mentioned.

Re: 2011 Trade Predictions - Part II

Just to elaborate.

Strijk was an absolute revelation in the shit season that was 2010. In a year where we seriously lacked skills, he brought pace, defensive, marking ability, elite footskills and great goal sense. Seriously talented player.

This season he struggled to have a full preseason, which was a massive blow for himself. In he and Hams' absence, Nicoski and Darling came to the fore and cemented themselves as best 22 players and were both key players in our revival this year. Strijk, without an establish fitness base (broken preseason) he just couldn't break into the side. His numbers in the WAFL however were far from below average. Off the top of my head he would have averaged roughly 15 disposals and 2-3 goals a game.

Is he better than Fasolo and Blair? I would say he is more talented than Blair, and his output would probably be better than Fasolo's (not surprising given he is 18) if he was playing at Collingwood. However, who would you take given the choice? Fasolo over Strijk easily.

Strijk is a very talented player who we should be doing our best to keep.

Your third paragraph sums up it. I said "Strijk is currently better." I made no inference on who teams would prefer for the future.

Re: 2011 Trade Predictions - Part II

I believe he wanted to come back to Adelaide....
But would be silly to not offer him a contract as it sounds like IF he is trade bait Port are the ones interested and he wants to come back to Adel...
So IF a trade cant be made, hes out of contract and Power have pick No2 in the PSD, so may get him for nothing then?

Re: 2011 Trade Predictions - Part II

Giansiracusa to Sydney? any truth in this? if so what would bulldogs want for him and also as a swans fan i reckon that paul bevan (26) and a second or third rounder would do that deal considering Giansiracusa is 29

Doubt it highly. They are working out his contract, Gia wants 2 years, the club are offering 1. I would be VERY surprised to see him go to Sydney.
