cloke imo, this season has been the most improved ruckman

but more realistically

IN: pick 6, 22
OUT: ROK, pick 12
He's not really a ruckman, and that's why they're chasing Warnock so hard even though they have Kreuzer and Hampson as young up-and-comers.

Carlton have #24 (due to PP for Melbourne and Wet Toast). They're going have to give something up for Warnock though, so it'll be hard seeing their first 2 picks coming to us.

Seaby???

Mark Seaby just asked the Eagles for a trade. I would prefer him than White as a back-up ruckman, so do you think we should have a stab at signing him?

Re: Seaby???

Andrew Ireland has previously said that we are not interested in a ruckman.

Now presumably they would have gone through the second stringers to see if there was anyone we would chase and therefore whilst Seaby wasn't on the market when Ireland made his comment I doubt that we'd be after Seaby.

The only possible way I could imagine we'd chase him is if the Lovett deal fell over and the pick we had earmarked for him would therefore be available.

Re: Seaby???

As ruckman is not high on our list of immediate priorities we shouldn't be actively chasing him.White's development is morea priority,& if we gave up picks that we could use to gain players (or draft picks)in already identified araes we would be going backwards in my eyes.
If,however he came with a demand we cope with then he may be a worthy addition.By all reports though, Lovett is about the limits we seem to be capable of obtaining without "paying overs".

Re: Seaby???

Richmond leads the chase for Seaby. The Tigers have him in their sights because Warnock still seems set for Carlton.
Sydney is one of three other clubs to have indicated some interest in Seaby.

It looks like you guys are really keen on getting Lovett, and i know he isn't worth pick 12 on his own, but i also think that we won't agree to pick 30.

So, from your perspective, do you guys see Lovett + pick 23 for pick 12 fair?

Daniel Harris

MICK Oxlong hates it being done, but here's a thread on Roos hardman Daniel Harris, who has asked to be traded.
He's a tough nut but personally I'd rather we go for an Andrew Lovett type.

To be perfectly honest, it's probably not far from the mark, but it won't happen.

Roos has stated we will keep our 1st rounder (a Kerr deal notwithstanding) and Essendon are as keen to offload Lovett as he is of going.

Admittedly, just because Roos said we will keep the top pick, doesn't make it a fait acompli, but I reckon there'd be a big backlash if we lost it for a deal which only sees Lovett come to the club.

Umm, unless you no something I don't, his name isn't on the table. He's certainly not 'untouchable' but he hasn't come out and said he wants to leave.

Re: Seaby???

Don't need him. We don't really need an 'established' ruckman given we have Currie, White, Orreal, LRT, new canadian guy etc that all have the attributes to have a 'run' in the ruck.

If we were to get anybody, it would be a rookie draft Mott style ruckman as security.

I reckon we may only see pick 12 go if we get a higher selection in a Ryan O'Keefe trade (if it eventuates).

Harris is a very good player, but EXACTLY what we don't need. He'll have no problem finding a home.

In fact, he is EXACTLY what Essendon need. If the Kangas were happy with a 3rd rounder for Harris (not sure they'd take it), we may do very well out of a 3-way deal........Lovett to Swans/Harris to Bombers/Swans 3rd rounder to Kangas.

I like that deal a lot.
If essondon want o keefe then what about
Pick 5+Lovett for Okeefe +Pick 12
Seems pretty fair to me, but i really do like that harris, lovett, third round trade.
Good Stuff!;)

The Tigers and Seaby would be a good fit IMO, they could use an extra ruck/forward. I'm tipping Richmond to rise in 2009 after watching their development this year.

But hang on, Bombers fans think Lovett is worth something between our 1st and 2nd round picks.

In reality I think our 2nd round pick would be needed to swing that deal, if all parties were interested.

Alternatively, there was talk earlier about the Swans looking to move Schmidt on (or maybe Schmidt asking to me moved on to where he might get more opportunities). If Harris is a good fit for the Bombers, Schmidt would be too. He has fewer runs on the board than Harris but probably is a better kick. Maybe he might be part of a package for Lovett. Roos certainly seems pretty excited about the idea of securing Lovett.

No he isnt.

Giving up a player of value for a turtle slow inside midfielder is hardly at the top of Essendons needs, Jobe Watson is already filling that role effectively for us along with the help of others Lonergan, Welsh and Mcveigh.
