Did anyone have a chance to see our next superstar Tim Membrey played last week?

Played a reasonable game considering it was his debut. Still has some catching up to do (tempo of the game etc) but didn't look completely out of place.

You would have to think he will end up being a decent player with some perseverance.

No issue keeping Waite on 1 year contracts until the end. He has that ectomorph frame that seems to handle the rigours of the game well, his form over the last two years up forward has been very good, and he is flexible enough to cover 4-5 positions.

A distinct advantage for the club if we can retain him at a reasonable price.

Waites body handles the rigours of the game well?????

He is just about the most injury prone bloke on our list.

Just looking back over the years we appear to persist with a high risk high reward strategy at draft and on the trade table...Yarran, Lucas, Bootsma, Menzel and even Cripps are all high upside types, same with McLean, Warnock and Thomas, we have banked on something having to go right when trading for them.

Wonder what a more conservative path may have yielded.

My point being his build is of the type that can generally survive in the game a bit longer...Tuck, Fletcher, Silvagni...not carrying the extra weight is kinder on the joints.

Quality wise Waite is still capable of his best footy which can't be said of many KPP's beyond 30. Still mobile, works hard as ever up the ground (when the mood takes). Wouldn't surprise me to see him play a couple of seasons beyond this one.

It's why I think (& hope) Simmo plays on forever.

Yeah I undestand what you are trying to say. But unfortunately its not a one size fits all sort of thing.

Gumbleton is also an ectomorph and he is the most injury prone bloke on the face of the planet.

Having said that I do think Waite has a few good years left in him...

But he has had a pretty injury prone career.

I might be wrong, but before his knee, Waitey was pretty durable wasn't he?

Kreuz was unbreakable before his knee too. Hadn't missed a game since debut.

Bloody knee reco's.

Waite played 86 of a possible 97 games prior to injuring his knee & without delving too deeply I would suggest some of the 11 games he missed during that period were the result of suspensions, so yes he was quite durable (he also played 20 of a possible 22 games in 2003).

With Andy Walker being thrown up in possible trade scenarios to get Boyd, I was thinking it would be difficult to get Tex to agree to go to GWS. With Gold Coast having 2 first rounders, would Tex & pick 25 for pick 10 be more realistic? The suns are finals bound in the near future & the living situation in QLD would be more appealing for Tex I would imagine. We could then offer up pick 5 & 10 for Boyd & pick 20. Thoughts?

Great thinking, it's very possible. And certainly the type of stuff GWS would do.

Although I would think Gold Coast would give us their Geelong Compo pick as opposed to pick #10, which may mean that GWS would give us a later pick than #20 or perhaps a player like Jaksch, Buntine or someone else i'm not aware of.

What do people here think about Arryn Siposs?

He is on the outer at St Kilda and according to their board on the chopping block.

Has a long raking left foot on him, and is a good size (191 cm), would be a good cheap addition if they decide to let him go?

His ability has never been in question, mainly his effort so do we back Malthouse in?
