.

If you look at the threads about Hartlett and Lobbe when they signed their contracts, we as a fan base were over the moon and praising the club. 20-20 hindsight is a peculiar thing. The same people wanting Davies' head now were praising him and the club then.

Pretty sure when lobbe and Hartlett signed their contracts people went off their noggin

They didn't like a 4 year extension on lobbe and they didn't like the length of hartletts extension as well. Each one should have been at least a year shorter.

Was having a browse through the Carlton thread regarding Gibbs. A few mentioned they'd rather deal with Port.

My personal favourite suggestion was us trading them Pick 9 and Hartlett for Gibbs.

yeah that seems fair lol, especially seeing as we were trading hartlett to get an extra pick in the 1st round, yet now we are giving him up plus our current pick for a 28 year old. some people...seriously.

but i think its a bit harsh on crows, they have actually been ok to deal with for other clubs and seem to get things done quite fast.

Gibbs' current output is greater than Hartlett's.

He is also a couple of years older and I'm not sure his best season is that different from hamishs best season.

Also , I think Gibbs has peaked whereas Hartlett is either gonna continue to be an underachiever that is still around Gibbs mark or he will improve to be way beyond what Gibbs could ever be.

There is no doubt that Gibbs has been better performed than HH. Everybody needs to take their blinkers off in that respect.

HH probably fits Carlton's age profile better. They are realistically no chance of a flag in the next 3 years meaning a younger player has more value for them. Given the age difference, but Gibbs being the better performed player, I'd say Hartlett and possibly a fringe player third rounder isn't outside the realms of possibility.

Is h the player we want? Is he more valuable to us than HH?? It is an interesting prospect to ponder.

Straight Gibbs for Hartlett would be a fair trade. Gibbs has more runs on the board, HH more potential and is younger. Should be about salary neutral too. We have a need for an inside mid. Both players seen to be underperforming where they are and a change of environment is probably what they need.

Potential win-win-win-win trade- good for both players and both clubs.

And are we a flag chance in the next 3 years?

One and a half pages and no mention of Gibbs being a dickhead? Or don't we have that policy anymore?

Lol the first page that link took me too had as many questioning the decision as well as celebrating it if you care to read to the bottom.

We did the right thing offering both players contracts. And despite the exaggerated rumours neither of them were really overpaid for what they could get on the market. What we did do wrong and if you care to read through tout that thread you will find a few astute people bring up is the risk of adding that length as an extension.

Dave Hughes is a Carlton supporter. Maybe he did that one.

Well it's a lot funnier than Dave Hughes so I doubt it.
