I like the idea of a straight swap of Ah chee for Brooksby or something like that

Ah Chee has more talent in his left nut than Brooksby has in his entire body. We may need a ruck, but we don't need one that badly.

Personally the only reason I'd trade Arch is to get us back into the second round, i.e. Arch + our 45 for GC's 28. Anything less than that and we're better off keeping him.

Considering the sheer number of potential footballers locked up in the left nut of Arch....id say you are correct.

And every last one of them is a better footballer than Brooksby. Even the girls.

Toby Nankervis has a 4-page thread on the trading board. The initial posts say that he wants to be near his family so wants to move to Melbourne from Sydney. Most of the later posts say this is hooey as he comes from Tassie and Sydney is just an extra 40 minutes, if that. Being at the bottom of the pecking order with 12 games in 2 years is the most likely reason. Should we have a go? A lot of the Swans supporters on the board are saying a third or fourth would do it.

Look at the number of flights, variety of time and cost of Hobart or Launceston to Melbourne vs to Sydney. You can overnight it on the Spirit of Tasmania if you live in Launceston. So that would be a more important fact than the extra 40 minutes in the air if he wants his family to visit him. Plus it seems as if half of Tassie has moved to Melbourne and not Sydney, so who knows how many mates and relos he has in Melbourne compared to Sydney.

He is definitely worth having a crack at to be no.3 ruck if he was open to it. He was always been behind other ruckmen at Sydney but that was to expected the first 3 or 4 years after being drafted in 2013. When he got there, the swans had Pyke, Tippett and Derrickx, Mumford had been traded out a few weeks earlier and Naismith was rookied 12 months earlier. Recruiting Sinclair from WCE and Naismith developing nicely from late last year onward means he is now still 4th or 5th banana.

As much as I want to see Ah Chee succeed, I think we overrate him as a talent. If GC don't take him, he'd be a straight forward delisting.

Agree though, Brooksby for Ah Chee is lunacy. Brooksby is rookie list caliber talent for me, not senior list. His old man was a good footballer.

Not when you consider father Barry played for Sydney, Collingwood and Carlton
Sydney 170 games over 9 seasons
Collingwood 13 games 1 season
Carlton 38 games 3 seasons

Only qualified as father-son at Sydney.

With his father having played at those three clubs though you can see the "romantic" attraction of Hawthorn*.

* Barry was an assistant coach at Hawthorn in 2008.

He was offered a dud deal by Sydney thanks to their commitment to Tippett & Franklin. Had to leave.
That is not true. Only Portz Pawa have celery cap issues.

Nankervis isn't going to come to us to be No3 on the list when he can go to Richmond and possibly take over from an ageing Maric or a hot and cold Hampson. Richmond are apparently hot for Nankervis as a replacement for Tyrone Vickery.

It looks like Nankervis has passed Lobbe on Richmond's wish list.

It's probably already been said, but the swannies would know their reported offer of 400k a season to Mitchell will be comfortably bettered by another club.
It's obviously just another way of clearing celery space. ;)

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2016-10-11/it-will-be-difficult-for-cats-to-trade-stars-in-says-wells

GEELONG admits it will be "difficult" to broker trade deals for both Brett Deledio and Zach Tuohy, given the club's tight salary cap space.
Deledio and Tuohy both nominated Geelong as their preferred destination on the opening day of the NAB AFL Trade period.
But Cats list manager Stephen Wells said the club would have to get creative to sort out a suitable trade for Deledio and Tuohy with club finances an issue.

Finally! Some news has been printed to confirm that someone other than us may be a bit tight on salary cap space. Even though Vardy would not be expected to free up as much as some it still would be a bit of cap and the Cats could be ready to accept a late pick which could then be used on someone who will get minimum.
Found some extra NEAFL news on Tom Downie. The last two years were an improvement on some of his earlier years. Check the link below for all years.

The reviews on Downie are pretty positive for a young cheap ruck.

Here's Vardys season. It's ugly. Doesn't mention much ruck work. I assume its hard to do much ruck work when everything hurts.

Wow that is not very encouraging

Vardy was a talented player when he was young but he is broken. Even if we have a miracle and he remains uninjured he is never going to be able to do more than pinch hit in the ruck. We still need a backup if Lobbe leaves.
