I am going to get flamed for this but degoey. Kills 2 birds with one stone in that we won’t have the Amon pick anymore to give away for Rioli… he is clearly a dick head, but on field makes us better. We seem to be ok with off field risks now by picking Rioli up. Too risky?

Not risky for the reward, I would definitely go for him, upgrade on Robbie Gray and better than Dunkley in terms of match winning capabilities. Plus he has a bit of arrogance which this team and club needs back.

You are both correct: CD was also referring to our best-case scenario, that is, immediately after our first pick.
Next best, end of the first round; next, second rounder.

It all depends on the player's age, years of contract, total $amount and where it sits with the existing club (Hawks) contracts.
Immediately after our first pick??????
In your dreams.
We aren't a big Malbun club you know :rolleyes:
I'll be happy if they condescend to give us a pick in mid-second round tbh.

This reads like a used car salesman trying to convince you the car he’s peddling you isn’t a dud.

But the guy was one of our best players (on a dud team)

And he’s really good (if you ignore the last 2 years)

Yeah he’s a decent player

Yeah we need a small forward

But west fans are really trying to oversell him.
Agreed, the wet toast fans who have come on here are trying way too hard to convince us of Rioli's value.

David Noble, SoS and Barrett just sh1t on the very idea of first round compo for Amon - "nothing any way near that".

Ned Guy is the new 'herbs and spices' compo whisperer at the AFL - he's the bloke who blew up Collingwood's salary cap a few years back, which is still reverberating.

How the hell did Ned Guy get that job FFS.

End of 2nd it is. Guess we will use it on Rioli then

2021: George Hewett went to Carlton on a 4 year deal @ $450k pa and that got end of second round compo (#40)
2020: Crouch went to Saints on a 4 year deal @ $700k pa, and that got second round compo (#23)
2020: Zac Williams went to Carlton on a 6 year deal @ $800k pa, and that got first round compo (#10)
2019: Brandon Ellis went to Suns on a 5 year deal @ $600k pa, and that got second round compo (#44)

Just at a quick look, Amon on 4 years @ $650k pa won't trigger end of first, but more likely to be second round rather than end of second, so indicative pick 27.

With the evidence you have put forward your pick 27 final outcome sounds about right.
We can forget first round anything.

And would it help or hinder the "Bring Back the Prison Bars" campaign?

Some would say he's a real campaigner.

Makes you wonder how Geelong got pick 19 compo for Motlop.

Because they needed to get Gazza back.
Pretty much. That deal was we will give you pick 19 for Motlop as long as you give it to Gold Coast for Ablett. Another case of the AFL making things up as they go along to suit whatever agenda/need they see fit to fix.

I know this is purely about his value on the field, but seeing Robbie Gray compared to that cretin just seems wrong.

Amon will be the highest paid free agent surely that's in the herb and spices.

Seems as though your GM of footy agrees...🤣
"From our perspective, it’s his goal sense, his ability to link that midfield-forward area which is an area of our team that we need to get better at if we want to be more competitive than we were this year.
“We think that we’re going to be able to get Junior fit enough to play at AFL level.
“There’s no doubt that he’s a really good player when he’s fit and going"

He's basically saying we are going to have to bring his fitness up to AFL level, and in his current condition he isn't worth much at all.

Let's get real, he's 27 years old and barely played 50 AFL games. The second coming of Ablett Sr he ain't.
