Agreed, the wet toast fans who have come on here are trying way too hard to convince us of Rioli's value.

I mean, anyone who has seen Rioli play knows that he's got serious talent to burn.

The question marks are not on that aspect of him as a footballer.

Who knows what the secret herbs and spices take into account. People saying it's 2nd round compo then every other free agent is a 3rd?
Compensation is determined by which pay ‘band’ the player falls in. The bands are as follows:
  • Top five per cent = first-round pick
  • Top 15 per cent = end-of-first-round pick
  • Top 30 per cent = second-round pick
  • Top 50 per cent = end-of-second-round pick
  • Top 70 per cent = third-round pick

After the formula gives the suggested compensation, an expert AFL committee can recommend a change if there is a “materially anomalous” result.
Whatever the heck that means. Oh, well; my money is on the end-of-first-rounder.

Seems as though your GM of footy agrees...🤣
"From our perspective, it’s his goal sense, his ability to link that midfield-forward area which is an area of our team that we need to get better at if we want to be more competitive than we were this year.
“We think that we’re going to be able to get Junior fit enough to play at AFL level.
“There’s no doubt that he’s a really good player when he’s fit and going"
Unfit last chance drug offender at the back end of his football carrier.
Third round pick is generous.

And would it help or hinder the "Bring Back the Prison Bars" campaign?

Some would say he's a real campaigner.
Was just thinking of the BBTB campaign.

The AFL will give us a mid 2nd rounder because they know we will just bend over and take it from our masters like we do the refusal to wear the bars.

More evidence that the trade period is a couple of weeks of a full moon

Without listening to what Rendell said to that station, he just laughed off Barrett's suggestion on TR that WCE would probably want more than "just" the Amon compo pick.

Probably hard to entice Rioli here if the GM comes out and says, well, he has done a 2 year drug ban, then got caught smuggling weed through the airport so is clearly an idiot, seems unfit for AFL, but you know, if we can get him for cheap we might give it a crack.

Yeah so there’s no “secret herbs and spices” right. That would imply there is some actual objective formula for this.

But there isn’t.

There is a guide based on age, pay and duration of contract, but the reason why the AFL don’t release an actual formula is so they can have control over the outcome based on what they feel is right, such as Geelong receiving a first rounder to get Ablett done.

Same reason they don’t allow precedent to be considered in tribunal, they know that would heavily restrict the verdict, but the AFL want more control over the outcome.

Port Adelaide exists to do the dumbest shit possible to make sure other clubs are happy and get their deals done.

Rolling back to Fremantles pick 14 for a second round pick is ****ing dumb. Pick 14 looks like shit this year.

And if we wanted a second rounder so badly we shouldn't have given up ours for Josh Sinnjured.
