West Coast are just being ridiculous with the Rioli deal. Time to shut up shop and let him walk to the draft. Don't bother with timewasters.
Or at least get the JHF deal done without them. They're obviously trying to get North to demand Pick 2, so we have to give something ridiculous (MG or Houston) with Pick 8 to them to get Rioli and Pick 2 (to give to North). With GWS losing players left and right, I'd rather deal with them for Pick 8 + something not idiotic for Pick 3, to pass along to North. WC can be left with Rioli for chump change or keep him.

Found this 2018 article by Tredders I posted in the Marshall thread.

From Tredders article about the 5 new KPF's about to make their mark.

www.adelaidenow.com.au/sport/afl/port-adelaides-todd-marshall-and-adelaides-darcy-fogarty-herald-the-return-of-the-key-forward-in-the-afl/news-story/9e49957f346eec33090e2bdae8e361f1
While the two groups provide the majority of the AFL’s attacking excitement, a group of five youngsters with less than 35 games experience are quickly making their mark. So quick that they could possibly join if not surpass their more experience rivals in the not too distant future.

The five are Charlie Curnow (Carlton), Todd Marshall (Port Adelaide), Darcy Fogarty (Adelaide), Eric Hipwood (Brisbane) and Esava Ratugolea (Geelong). These names don’t spring to mind when discussing the best forwards in the land but make no mistake they’re quickly becoming club list managers most valuable commodities when planning for a club’s future. But success isn’t a fait accompli - kids take time to prosper.
....
While the promising five tower over the majority of the competition, ranging in heights from Eric Hipwood’s 203cm to the shortest of the group Darcy Fogarty at 193cm. Their weights also range from Ratugolea’s 102kg to Marshall and Hipwood at 90kg.about.

Will Gould has signed a 1 year deal with Sydney.
Give him another year under a good coach like Longmire learning the backman craft. Then swoop next year with 3rd rounder. He might be able to play on the monsters like Steve May similar body shapes. Use positioning, smarts & strength over height.

Not sure why Adam Tomlinson hasn't been spoken about. Would work as a tall interceptor and allow Aliir to play lock down. Could just smooth out his money, wouldn't have thought he'd cost alot either

If it gets to a point where we have to part with a player like Houston, we don't need WC to be part of it, we can offer Pick 8 and Houston straight to North, WC are delusional, Rioli is not a must.
Maybe it's time to cut WC out of the JHF deal. If Rioli wants to play at Port he will find his way here one way or another.

Things will be quiet for the next 48 to 72 hours. Recruiters and list managers will have their attention elsewhere.

THE AFL has today released the names of 68 players invited to the 2022 NAB AFL Draft Combine.

The NAB AFL Draft Combine will showcase many of the most talented boys in the country and be held in Melbourne from Friday October 7 to Sunday October 9.

It will be the first time a national Combine has been staged for boys or girls since 2019.

I hate this time of the year. Stupid names and deals coming up showing other supporters and reporters ignorance to our players.

I haven’t learnt his name yet but I wouldn’t put my house on Eva being out FB solution. Hope he is. It means Cluery could be trade bait?

I’d say our midfield will be peaking in 2025 unless we catch injuries to key players.

In relation to Mitch he had an average year this year. I’d back myself in on having a better 2023 to arrant a better contract offer.

****ing hell you beat me to it haha.

There's not going to be any formal sit down discussions between Port and other teams over the coming days. Might have some informal chats between list managers at the Draft Combine but for now, the next two days in particular are about the kids.

Put your phone alerts on ice and come back with your best one-liners on Sunday night.

Why. Aliir is an all-australian defender playing the intercept role

Tomlinson is 193cm, this board would hate him.

I'm hoping Clurey, Pasini and McKenzie are the 3 Maggies KPDs. With Pasini being the one to push for Jonas's spot.

Hopefully a couple of bolters appear out of the combine that make pick 8 appear a whole lot more valuable.
