I’m giving our recruiters a score out of 100 based on the following:
JHF = 80
Rioli = 10
Ratugalea= 10
Losing Bergman, Houston, Butters or the ilk = -50
If they score 100, we have to have statues of Davies and Cripps at Alberton.

And yet Geelong, Richmond, Collingwood, Melbourne, Brisbane, Freo and the crows, all seem to be able to get great players for picks at their value or for unders. So why does Port have to give up a significant player?

4+ months of eagles fans asking what picks they can split pick 2 to get.
Eagles fans generally didn’t want to draft wardlaw sheezel or tsatas from vic private schools.
It’s only in the last few weeks that some kind of insanity has swept over the same crew that were begging for pick 2 to be split that now don’t want it to be split unless they get a billion 1st rounders.
Hewett ain’t far behind (if at all) the top couple of vic mids, you would almost take him over them as the local, adding a first rounder to that makes it a great deal.
If in theory, port wound up with pick 2, and hewett was an Sa lad, I would be the first guy to suggest swapping pick 2 for pick 8 + another first rounder.
In fact all year long in this thread I’ve shot down suggestions we should try to trade up. There’s very strong talent around that top part of the draft and I’m not sure there’s much between them.

The Brisbane and Geelong components aren't really required for the "mega deal", they are just separate trades with WC and Port respectively.

I love that we have dug our heels in around trading out our top talent let's hope we stick to it.
I'm happy to trade out of this draft if we land JHF and just take a couple of late swings.
Hopefully the AFL don't let us trade out our 2nd next yr aswell need to keep some collateral for Junior Pickett.

Ratugolea is not worth 33. Switch that to 53.

Not far from what I expect to be the final deal although I think the the future 2nd from Brisbane will come to us and NM's future 2nd will go to Eagles.
I'm also torn as to whether we should keep 33 and trade Brissy's future 2nd to Cats. Thoughts?
