We could have taken Stengle in the mid season draft last year. He was playing down the road for wwt. We took Jed Mcentee instead to try and turn a small mid into a pressure forward. The problem is that the club is not able to support and get the best out of players with different issues and personality types. This is a ken issue but its now a club issue that needs to be dealt with.

Tom Highmore is a genuinely good footballer who apparently ran over Brett Ratten's dog sometime over the offseason. I'd actually be pretty happy if we recruited him.

We wouldn't be trading him. We'd be letting him go with out blessing and encouragement. Like Clarkson did with Hodge. If its the sweetener to get a potential JHF deal across the line then it's a win win. Boak playing for Port is of no benefit either.

The key difference here is Hodge is a leader with success. Boak is a good player, consummate professional and probably the nicest guy in the AFL off-field, but he's not a player you can rely on to get you over the line when games are on the line (the Freo. game the last in many), like Hodge (or Tredrea as our last 'refuse to let the team lose and set the tone' player). North grabbing Boak would be like us getting Rockliff.

We aren't asking Boak to go as part of any deal. Being brutally honest, he'd be fine for another club as a free agent to help set an example on the training track for younger players, but not on the field. Worth doing if you've a young list, but not worth it as part of any deal to lose a key player.
