Or we could make it a priority not to recruit any unaccountable players this year, just for the novelty of it.

Seaby I could definitely see happening. A quick outside midfielder (not a Lonie thanks) or a pick 25-35 ought to do it. Would be suited to a club which (with no disrespect) doesn't attract huge media attention outside Adelaide. Probably like all those churches too.

Staker - sure why not. If he gels for more than 2 games a year and kicks 40 or 50 goals good on him, I won't begrudge him. 2nd or 3rd round pick upgrade would do.

Butler/Waters - highly doubt it. I reckon the asking price would be too high given what both have actually produced over 2007 & 2008. Really rate both but not totally untradeable.

I don't think our Ebert can be traded as a first year player. He should be at Port anyway, but I'm glad we picked him up - looks a player.

Murphy & Carr from Freo aren't much chop. Murphy played a dozen good games in 2006 when Freo were flying and has done little since. He is a bit one dimensional and doesn't dominate WAFL footy as you'd hope. If Carr goes any further backwards he'll probably end up back across the border.

Not Krakouer/Motlop?

Yeah, Krak should be on the table in any dealings with the west. Hopefully they rate him as highly as some do here. I personally don't see it myself, but I read an interview with the ex-Doggies RO who was very disappointed they weren't able to snaffle him.

As for Motlop, he's a career keeper now. Loves it here, is over 25 and is only just starting to hit his straps after incessant battles with injury.

Motlop!?!

There was a little sidebar in The Age today listing the top ten goalkickers of the year with their set-shot percentage. (Yes, it was all about Buddy.) Mots is second on that list with 71.4 (or so) percent. Only Bradshaw was a little better, also 71.something percent.

Motlop!?

Because he used to be inconsistent doesn't mean that he is now. Because some commentators think he's too flashy doesn't mean that they're right. Why on God's green earth would you even remotely contemplate trading away your most reliable, creative, hard-working forward, whose performance this year puts him among the best in the game?

And don't we need to save Krakouer for Brad?

And nobody touches Pearcey.

I would trade Pearce like crazy. He's got Eagleton written all over him.

Jordan Russell, there is always a maligned player at every club, from what I have seen he looks good. Gets the pill, uses it well and has bulked up, reminds me alot of Salopek.

If he plays loose doesn't mean it's by fault of his own, perhaps the coaches instruct him to play that way.

I would give a 3rd rounder for him in a heart beat if Carlton supporters don't want him.

Precisely my thinking.

Would still have high value (moreso as part of a package than a direct trade) despite what has been a stagnant year. Given our surplus of outside types even if he got his shit together elsewhere it's a low risk/maximum return deal.

A substantial trade involving Pearce, Seaby, Butler and pickage seems feasible enough.

Really can't see Butler being part of any super-trade.

Is very highly rated at West Coast, and I imagine if he were to be traded on his own we would want a first round pick (probably around 10 or so). IMO we'd rather have Butler than a pick in the 20's or 30's, and Port/Adelaide won't want to pay more than that for him, so we'll keep him.

How bout Hartlett over @ Carlton, I think you could get him cheap. (although his body is wrecked, may turn good at Port)

We can rebuild him. We can make him better than he was before ... ;)

There has never been a point in Ken McDud's career that I would have approved trading for him.

He has been the most useless waste of space on an AFL list since Capper's shorts disappeared up his arse

He's the kind of player I wish the cows had plenty more of.

Oh, BTW, did I mention how f@#$%&* useless he is?

Wouldn't dream of trading Daniel. Like I said, I meant Marlon.

Settle Sandy! :)
Hoping that at least one out of Marlon Motlop or Farmer will turn into a real HBF.
