Re: Trades/delistings/recruitment

I know all the talk is on us recruiting a ruckman, but surely we need another tall back almost as badly.

Rance and Grimes look good, but they are both in their low 190s by memory. Astbury and Post are good prospects but not reliable options as yet.

We need a big defender physically capable of going with the bigger forwards.

Are there any good mature agers running around in the VFL and equivilents, ala, Pods, Smith, Barlow, etc etc

rance 193/4
grimes 195

Re: Trades/delistings/recruitment

I said around round 15 I liked the potential of adding depth via Clayton Hinkley and Koby Stevens from WA to come back home. I see both these players as having something that can work at AFL level. More so Stevens with his size and ball winning ability but Hinkley has speed and doesn't like getting beaten from what I have seen.

Hinkley got delisted today and I am confident he will find his way onto another AFL list and would be more than happy if it was ours.

Re: Trades/delistings/recruitment

Scott Thompson is 193cm can play on the smalls or 3rd tall. Rance would still have to take the bigs. Also is ok offensively too. Gets a bit of the ball.

Matt Warnock is useless.

Koby Stevens id be happy with at the right price as an inside mid.

Clayton Hinkley for an outside player although quick has shonky skills i believe.

Re: Trades/delistings/recruitment

Yeah he looks scrappy but I believe thats probably due to never having a proper crack at it. Stevens would most likely cost us 2nd rounder or even higher depending on contract status.

As for Thompson, do NMFC have the depth to trade him from backline???

Yer fair enough re: Hinkley. Have never really watched him closely. Stevens is out of contract i believe.

North would have Grima, Hansen, Tarrant, Delaney and Pederson as well as Thompson. There big weakness is skilled half backs.

Re: Trades/delistings/recruitment

Yeah so Thompson has been there most consistent of those listed over the last 2 years leading me to the conclusion the trade is bullshit. Skilled half backs may be their weakness but they wont harm another weakness to fill that need.

Lachlan Hansen would be of more interest, however his season was pretty poor and not sure where his career is heading.

Re: Ivan the Tiger

dont really know how i feel about this...who exactly was keeping him out at adelaide? tippet and mckernan barely rucked and even when maric did play only go 12ho a game. has never averaged over 18Ho a game in his career despite playing most games in the 3 years before this season. highest average disposals in a season is about 10 and averages 2-3 tackles a game. honestly graham gives us more in those stats alone.

my prediction is he will quickly become known as 'ivan the terrible' with us.

Koby Stevens will be good. He's got some awesome size for a mid but he doesn't really use it yet. More a smooth mover as an IM these days. Finds the pill, uses it well, takes a decent speckie, seems pretty determined.

Not sure what his value is but I doubt we let him go because he'll be in our 22 soon enough.

I reckon the value on our list is Jordan Jones, but I hope he stays as well.

Very pleased. Ivan rocks

Aggressive, a good tap to advantage ruckman, excellent kick for goal and uninjured. 25 is the perfect age, too

Nason would be an ideal trade for us.

Give him number 11

In the words of Homer Simpson ""Phfft! Facts. You can use them to prove anything." Maric was 7th in the comp for hitouts to advantage last year, and 4th at the Crows for contested marks. I reckon he's an improvement on Gus, if for no other reason than he has a crack every time he goes out there. Assuming he doesn't cost a whole lot to get to the club, I'm happy with him, as long as we've got a medium term replacement in mind (hopefully not Browne!). I'm thinking someone like Nicholls, or an 18 year old as a project player.

You serious? They have Sam Jacobs as their #1 ruck and a very, very good one at that.

Sam Jacobs is the no.1 ruck hence he isn't getting a game. Has played a couple as a 2nd ruck/fwd when Tippett has been out. Last year he played 2nd ruck to Jon Griffin. Without the sub rule he managed to play more games but was still a 2nd ruck not the 1st.

Well if true then I hope like he'll we are chasing Nicholls aswell

Agreed. Maric for the short term upgrade but exciting if we had an athletic 202cm ruckman developing on the list. Not the plodders we currently have.

Re: Trades/delistings/recruitment

Their talking about 1st rounder for knights & 2nd rounder for Maric !

Is it me that just cant see any value there ?

Dont forget that this is not a normal draft year and hence
a first round pick can be in the range of picks 1 - 30 approx
and a second round pick in the approx range of picks 31 - 50.

I think that posters should be specifying actual pick ranges this year when discussing trades due to the abnormal GWS factor.

Re: Trades/delistings/recruitment

Really disappointed that it looks like we are getting Maric. Dumb footballer, makes poor decisions, gives away cheap free kicks, not a great mark, not special in anything. Might improve at a new club though.

If he is playing for us I will have to back him in.
