Re: Trades/delistings/recruitment

To be honest I would be giving Morton & Connors another year as there trade value is low compared to what they cna produce. I think both could be long term HF's who rotate into the midfield.

Plenty that should go before those two talented boys who are in our top 10 when up and running imo.

Foley imo is not tradeable. We need experianced 100 game mids who can win their own ball. He got 22 games into his legs this year and will be back to top form next year imo.

Agree with this entirely. Morton and Connors both possess some real talent, if we can get them in the right headspace and they work like King/Nahas do it will be of immense value to the club. Morton in particular has that s-factor about him, I can see him playing that mercurial forward/outside mid role in a good team that Stevie J does for Geelong.

The only way I would be happy to part with Foley is if we get paid significant overs for him. He has had a decent year, but I believe he will still get better and will be an integral part of our midfield for the next 5-7 years. We got a first round and a 3rd round for Tambling (daylight robbery at it's finest :D) - Foley is more valuable to us now than Tambling ever was.

Re: Trades/delistings/recruitment

Well this puts a spanner in the works with us landing either
Clarke or Griffin

Harvey also said that he had not been told by contracted ruckman Jon Griffin, who joined the club at the end of last season, that he wanted to return to an Adelaide-based club.

https://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/122787/default.aspx

Surely we could put a attractive offer on the table to put Richmond into his consideration.

Re: Trades/delistings/recruitment

Not necessarily suggesting we should do this, but will the trade value of Nahas ever be higher?

I know you probably don't want to trade Nahas, but his value now would be a 1st round draft pick.

The years of development put into him, and his superb season, he would never be let go for anything less.

A small forward that can crack a game open and kicked 30 goals for the year? He's worth a fair amount.

Despite having a great year I would doubt he'd attract a 1st round pick. I'd say 2nd round or player.

Wasn't there some talk of him to GWS?

Connors I think we should keep, Morton has to go, time to cut the cord on these promising yet mediocre types. ditto White.

Foley is absolutely tradeable, I'd be disappointed to see a guy like him go, but Richmond have some lofty ambitions going into trade week...we just don't have many players with much currency. If we want to get someone good in, we might need to let someone good out. We can offer Thursfield, Edwards, et al up for trade all we want, we ain't getting much for them.

Richmond have gone on record that we need a gorilla backman and a ruckman. They are our needs. I don't think we'll be trading any of our picks away to be honest, I can't help but feel that one of our better players will get traded, someone that willl shock us all.

Re: Trades/delistings/recruitment

I would be ok with losing foley if it meant we were going to get a player like O'Meara or Clarke from fremantle.

Connors,Edwards,Morton Contrary to what most might believe DO have trade value and wont be traded unless a required player is obtained in the trade.

Thursfield,Graham,Mguane,Moore,White will all be shopped around & if no takers most will be on the chopping block.

Would love to see the following in a dream situation

Thursfield - Fremantle -3rd rounder
Graham - Port adelaide - upgrade our 4th to ports 3rd
Mguane - Brisbane - 3rd rounder
White - stKilda -upgrade our 3rd to stkilda 2nd
Tuck - Gws - 2nd round compo
Foley - Gws - Foley+ stkilda 2nd round for O'Meara

As i said guys its my F*****G Dream so dont bag it.

Re: Trades/delistings/recruitment

I would seriously rather trade Morton than Nahas and although I suspect Nahas might generate a little more interest after his good year, Morton when going is a more versatile player and would ultimately offer more to the right club.

Re: Trades/delistings/recruitment

Just going to throw this out there in regards to Z.Clarke or under 18 mid with pick 14. Which is harder to find a good ruck or a good mid. How many good mids are there in the AFL compared to good rucks? Come FA next year when we can buy someone will it be easier to get a mid or a ruck? IMO a mid will be far easier as there may only be 1 or 2 rucks up for grabs where as there may be multiple mids for us to choose from to get the right fit. Plus we have 3 high picks next year to get the midfield depth problem sorted.

Over the 2011 and 2012 off seasons my ideal scenario would be:

Z.Clarke for first rounder, young mid with 2nd (Kerridge (Toady mentioned his kicking isn't bad at all/Waldhunter as inside or even Brad Hill as quick outside mid), 3rd Morris and 4th either small crumbing forward (Tipungwuti), State leaguer (Tom Lee - KPF or Tom Sundberg - Mid) or wait till pre-season draft and trial a few blokes out.
Rookie List a crumbing forward, a young ruck, Heslin and a State league mid.

Next year use the first 3 picks on best available (most likely needing midfielders/hff)
Pick up a couple more players to add depth in all areas. Free Agent midfielder (ideal target - Ryan Griffen as the Dogs slide down the ladder he may want a crack at the premiership he missed)

Could see a side line up like this:

B: Grimes Rance Morris
HB: Batchelor Astbury Houli
C: Conca Kerridge Griffin
HF: Deledio Riewoldt Nahas
F: Lee/Griffiths Vickery Martin
R: Z.Clarke Cotchin Foley
INT: Helbig 2012 1st rd pick 2012 compo pick
SUB: 2012 2nd rd pick

All this talk of Z Clarke is bloody exciting, I would love to see this guy in a Tigers jumper next year, but are we seriously any chance of landed him?

There's obviously a shed load of rumours flying around, but is there any genuine knowledge from anyone out there, that we are a chance of snagging him?

Just my opinion but I don't think Kerridge will be available at your 2nd rounder.

Re: Trades/delistings/recruitment

Rumour that the RFC believe he has asked to come home. Was spoken about at after-match function on Sunday. We will need to give up something good to get him but we desperately need a good ruck. Then start bloody drafting some so we don't end up paying overs in the future.

Re: Trades/delistings/recruitment

Trade Connors!?!?!? Are you nuts?
The guys been injured all year.
Had a fantastic second half to last year - it's a real shame he didn't get games this year. He could be a gun - no way he is tradeable. Can't even believe ppl have forgotten how good he was looking. Nice skills and some mongrel bit like beau waters

Truth be told we don't have many 'tradeables' ppl want.... Unless a GWS paid overs for Thursfield/McGuane/Jackson/Graham. The cupboard is bare of anyone worth much to anyone else.

If we want Hampson or Maric or Martin it will be for a draft pick - honestly we haven't got anything else to offer.

Call me nuts but I wouldn't be surprised if we are linked to Rhys Palmer

Not nuts, just playing the percentages. We are linked to everyone else. Blair's phone bill must be enormous :D

Also agree, Connors at worse case is handy depth.
