I have 145800 in the bank and i see 3 options -
option 1 - upgrade Haselby to Hadley
option 2 - upgrade Leunberger to McIntosh
option 3 - upgrade Hill to Gilbert
Which way do i go ??

Depends on how many trades you've already used, the strength of your cash cows and your plans for the immediate future.

If your cows are decent go with Option 3. It will be of most short to medium term benefit.

If you're struggling with cash cows and Hill gets named go with Option 2.

I wouldn't really consider option 1.

I'm thinking of trading Boomer out for Skipworth and using that cash to sort out my backline (Hill and Hurley on the bench with Petrenko on the field is looking a bit risky). That spare 400k could turn S. Hill into L. Harding or Drummond. I also have Adcock disappointing me back there, so I could leave Hill for now and instead trade Adcock out for Fisher/Drummond/Macdonald/Harding - but I think the Hill-Hurley-Petrenko situation is more pressing. OR I could stick with Boomer for a bit longer and only use one trade to turn Hill into Cheney/Rance. I don't wanna trade Hurley - I have a feeling he'll be worth the few weeks wait.

So:
(a) B. Harvey > Skipworth and S. Hill to Drummond/Harding
(b) B. Harvey > Skipworth and Adcock to Fisher/Drummond/Harding (leaving a good stash of cash in the bank for future upgrades, but a risky Hill-Hurl-Petrenk backline)
(c) Hill > Cheney/Rance (leaving 19 trades left but I'll lose money when Boomer drops and other forwards like Skipworth go up and I don't have them)

This is my first time doing SC so I'm pretty unsure about all this - opinions appreciated.

I wanna go Dalziel -> Boyd/Cross
Pav -> Richo

Dont wanna risk Dalziel. If I keep him after the price drop I'll have to stick with him and prob am not willing to do that.

2nd trade on looks like vaporising a trade for no reason but I watched Pav yesterday and he didnt inspire me to add to his 60 in wk 1. Against Pears he should have dominated. Richo doesnt like he'll get less than 13 marks a game.

Silly, especially since Pav scored 100+ playing reasonably shit.

Option C.

Harvey has proven himself over the last few years. I'd stick with him.

I would however get Skippy into the team if you can.

I've got Raines, Butler, Hentschell and Anthony all to get rid of.
Raines and Hentschell probably make sense to trade first as they're injured and are now questionable as upgrades as they'll be peaking too late in the year. Anthony is injured as well but only 94K invested, Butler may find it difficult to get back in the team with the win on the w/end but at least he is a possibility as opposed to the others.

Only downgrade option for Raines now is Cheney as Hill will probably be dropped and Hurley is injured. Ziebelll is the downgrade target for Henstchell. In the mids the Robinson boat sails this week but Beams and Zaka both show good potential, particularly Zaka who will probably keep a place for long enough to be a good $ earner after an impressive debut whilst Beams was just as impressive but has more selection pressure.

Options I'm considering:
1. Raines and Hentschell for Cheney and Ziebell
2. Raines and Hentschell for Cheney/Ziebell and Houlihan
3. Butler and Raines for Robinson/Zaka and Lake
Don't like third option as leaves me with Henstchell dead on the bench and no way of getting him out, and Butler could still work his way back into the side but it does leave a strong defence.

Only certainty is that I need to trade

I have found myself in a bit of a problem. I currently have Raines and will trade him ganrunteed, preferable for a more expensive player. There r a few othre players i would like to trade off, but i have narrowed it down to Harvey and Dalziell. Also i have bock, and hill with raines/suban on bench so my backline is looking shaky, both could miss next week.

Option 1:
Dalziell(92,49) --> Farren Ray(125,94), Raines --> McMahon(98,116) with 50k left
Keeping Harvey. Not sure whether i should trade Dalziell because of the first bad week of his career, but its now or never, as his price will go down...

Option 2:
Harvey(59,54) --> McMahon(98,116), Raines --> Lake(92,132) with 7k left
Keeping Dalziell. I thought Harvey would turn it around last week, but still failed. Again, it is now or never...

Option 3:
Harvey(59,54) --> Richo, Dalziell(92,49) --> Ray(125,94) with 227k left to spend the following week:
Raines --> Ellis with 112k left for another trade.
This trade looks tempting, but i will be left with major holes in defence if Bock(club suspension) and Hill/suban dont play.

Option 4:
Bock --> McMahon, Raines --> Houlihan
Keeping both Dalziell and Harvey. This will hold my defence together, but i will have missed my chance to trade out of form players... I will only do this depending if/on how many weeks Bock will miss.

Backline is hitting same problems as last year. Raines injured, Hill= Shi*t & will probably be dropped, and now Bock is suspended indefinatley....
So thinking Raines down to Cheney and wouldnt have a clue what else to do....

Trading raines this week for Cheney or Rance?? Anyone recon 1 or the other is a better pickup!! I know rance has only played 1 game but i need to make this trade before i swap leuenberger for macintosh.

I reckon Henderson will play for the Lions this week, for what that's worth to anyone who has him

Raines --> Cheney is safer. Rance has more competition and is still pretty raw. That said, I haven't made up my mind as yet

Unless you can't get to a computer, why would you trade before teams are named?

Even with a thursday game we'll get teams before lockout.

Commonsense people.
exactly.

im holding off my trades til late thursday morning since thats the latest i can make them. not so much worrying about getting names on the teams, but more so how pissed off i would get if i traded someone in today then tomorrow they do a hammy at training. hahaha.

I'm happy with a jump in my rankings overal.... but there are still problems in my team.

I can't decide who to trade before the big price change.

Hentschel
TRADE:
- He's injrued,
- an injured 220k price tag is quite a bit for 4 weeks, i could use it elsewhere, the money
- if for some reason he plays, he will go down in price MASSIVELY and hence be hard to trade AND bageling
- If garlett is dropped, and keep Hent, then i have no backups and thats a donut if nyone of my fwds decides not to play
KEEP:
- he wont change is price by next week, so i can keep him say another 2 weeks and then trade then when i don't have to worry about keeping under the two trades this round.
- I have ziebell and Walker on teh bench both playing, even if garlett gets droped, I can cover both
OVERALL:
Although thinkning of trading initially, I may not as he wont play next week and If I find someone who is playing and is bad and will drop in price and still score like sh**t, then I can keep Hent till trading next week and do it when i have a spare trade sitting there.

Joel Selwood (av82, be 132, price drop if he avs 47k)
TRADE:
- he's not going anywhere
- massive price tag for someone scoring similar to krak (3 points diff av)
- about to drop massively in price and i could grab another mid now and be happy
- should have got lots of points in their close match against hawks and there match against richo
KEEP:
- should start getting more points as geelong picks up its game
OVERAL:
I'm lost on this one... hes a keeper, I THOUGHT, but he could be the gyu everyone thought would be a keeper and so everyone keeps him dispite a whole year of crap to come ahead

Garlett
TRADE:
Hes crap, hes not doing anything, hes about to be droped
KEEP:
Hell play one more game, go up in price and you can trade him next week.
OVERALL:
Ill keep him and trade after being dropped.

HODGE
TRADE:
Not going weel, unfit, bad scores, going down in price
KEEP: hell get better fitness as the season goes on, should score better when hawks start to win, is a keeper
OVERALL:
keeper and so i will keep

PAVLICH:
Not doing so well so far, but should improve... but will others improve more?

SUBAN/HILL
both on bench, hill is a bit of money on teh bench, so i may take him away some time.. but probs next round before he drops in price after a quick gain in price. No point in upgrading a benchy, but seeing as he might have to cover if rance or cheney doesn't play... hmmm

LIST OF PEOPLE TO TRADE (IN ORDER)
Joel Selwood
Hentschel
Hill
Garlett
Pavlich
Hodge

PEOPLE TO TRADE IN (i.e. replacements)
Higgins fwd
Skipworth fwd
Yarran fwd (depending on performance.. could be a nice one to replace if he lives up to my expectations)
Zaharakis (depends on next few rounds) mid

Selwood is looking like going, but I don't really have someone to replace him... Hent and Garlett on the other hand look like giong as well, AND have people to be replace with.

HODGE: To keep or not?

Dont trade selwood, its only been two rounds hes bound to improve over the next few weeks it would just be a wasted trade. And Hodge im not so sure i think he is to good to get rid of but then again it depends on who your gonna trade him for???

Currently:

Hill (Dawson, Petrenko) Hill --------> Cheney
Rich, Otten, Robinson (Ziebiel, Anthony) Anthony ---> ???? (maybe I hold off and next week do Anthony/Robinson to Beam/Zakharis)

I think Ziebiel played well in the second half, so he should be named.

other ideas.
PAVLICH > Richardson - i would make money and richo is doing better than Pav
Hodge > Harding ... looks to be good.. but will he keep the form?

I relaly want to get skippy and Higgins in before the price rise.. because the will be hard to get afterwards.. (they are now about hent's range.. and my 191k + garlett shuld cover the other... )
so
Garlett & Hent > Skippy & Higgins (both go up 80k end of next round presuming they get 100 each)...

But that means no other trades... and how long will they keep that form?

So currently
Garlett & Hent > Skippy & Higgins
looks best value...

although there are others.. getting
pav > richardson
deledio > richardson
Hodge > harding

which all look intresting... the two i haev got down at the moment wil be hardest to do after this week as they go up in price massively.. while richo and harding not so much (only 50k)...

And will richo keep this form? and harding for that matter? and skippy and higgins...?
