I thought Rich and Gunston were dropped on form?

Mathieson 10 games last year. None this season. Not a Brisbane supporter so not sure if he's constantly injured or considered fringe 23 by Fagan. Perhaps both.

Adams seemingly ruled out for the season due to ongoing concussion symptoms so isn't a consideration at selection.

In reality Brisbane have been kissed on the dick for years now when it comes to availability so it's about time they copped a few on the sidelines.

Do the Pies have open training next week? Flying in Tuesday night and my son is keen to get down and see the boys.
Think there should be one on Wed morning @ 9:30

Or could be tuesday.

Just all depends if they give them monday off. Then light run on tues, main session wed, captains run thur. But sometimes they like to give them a day off in between sessions. I'll know more in a few days.

Thanks for letting me know. If you hear with more certainty please post the update.

When do you reckon we’ll know re: Wednesday?

Edit: sorry I just read your last paragraph haha

Thinking tuesday actually.
Because of the 6 day break. They tend to have a day off in between sessions.
Will know more tomorrow.

Family members have flown in from overseas and are keen to see training this week. Do we know yet if it's Tuesday or Wednesday?
Possible tomorrow.
Ive got no evidence on that, but being the short turn around, and they'd have to have a day off (usually after tha main session) and they do tend to have a main session the day after the light session.
But this is just me guessing here.

Don't we generally hold our main session 2 days before a game or is that highly flexible?
generally, and this week it is the case. Tomorrow being wed.
But there was some thought that with the shorter week it could be tuesday.

Last week it was three days, but that was for an interstate trip.

Must admit I panicked when I got there and the oval was empty haha luckily I just had to follow the crowd. :)
Yeah. I was there, nothing set up, talked to some photographers, who said they were running late. So I started to meet some friends on the other side, then we saw them walk out through the carpark. That's when I realised where they were going lol

Same for us.

My 14yo wasn’t assertive enough with getting his jumper signed - got a few but didn’t want to bother most of them.

Lined up for Mason for a while and got all the way to the front but a media person told him “2 more” and a couple of girls pushed past him.

Will they do a Captains run at some point tomorrow/Friday? And if so, would that be at Gosch’s too?

This came up on Facebk just then. So it seems they moved training again.

Observations from main training at the relocated venue.

An unbroken sky of grey greeted the players at Gosch’s Park – the venue for relocation due to the mud-ridden surface abutting the AIA Centre. Players strolled over like the inhabitants of Noah’s Arc and many obliged the autograph seeking fans who had turned out in large numbers. By the end of the session the overcast sky had cleared and the sun had broken through the cloud with apricity. The ground is in mint condition but late autumn and winter’s detritus made its mark through the large scattering of dull brown leaves.

In terms of the roll call – Kreuger was present but walked laps coffee in hand, while Checkers completed many laps at a fair click, but both left the gathering at approximately 10.30.

Maynard undertook an intensive fitness test on the Punt Road side of the oval and appeared to be moving pretty well. He had earlier told a patron who asked him if he would play that ‘We will have to wait and see.’. Following the aforementioned test he ran many laps at high speed He was sans shoulder bandages/taping so one questions if the knee was being tested too.

I had a chat with hyperkinetic Kreuger who told me that he saw stars briefly before hitting the turf and that he was extremely disappointed as he felt he had been playing well and was aiming at stringing matches together. The more phlegmatic Checkers obliged some autograph collectors as he paused between laps; he completed the signatures with barely a murmur.

Not long after they entered the arena the warm-up commenced. The players started with the mini-hurdles, some holding rods aloft as they went through their paces. Then they broke into pairs or small groups for some ground ball action with the activity forcing them to stretch their hammies to reach the ball and hone their skills regarding picking it up cleanly.

One little happy group consisting of Macrae, Reef, Begg, Draper and Harrison turned it into a competition and completed the drill amid laughter, applause, affirmation and ribbing. Bianco paired with Noble, Moore with Lippa and it was a time for friends to work together. WHE and Crisp enjoyed their tussle. Crisp said on radio this week that he, the hyphen and Checkers are bum pals (lol) and they have a great friendship.

For the record this was how the players were attired today, though Harrison swapped to black when the match simulation occurred at the end.

The blacks then proceeded to complete run throughs between poles and then indulge in some medium range kicking to one another , while the whites focussed on forward kicking movements which strengthen the leg muscles followed by sprinting. They players were told to catch their breath between segments. Blacks and whites then swapped and repeated the activities the other group had partaken of.

After this the whole cohort divided into four groups.

One in which every other player wore a mustard-coloured vest, was involved essentially in tackling which the players enjoy.
Another in which half the players wore lime-green vests focussed on contesting work which was overseen by Scott Selwood and here a player would kick in from the river end goals and players would lead and break from a contest. The marking was consistently strong and with the venue being more intimate, the players would come close to the fence and one could appreciate and big, strong and muscle-bound they are.

Another group was goal-kicking, with the last being drilled in close-in handballing and contesting work.

After this there was a whole ground ball movement activity and here the players moved with celerity and the ball followed suit. Clearly with the way the Bulldogs handball, and sometimes throw with alacrity, we were honing these skills and type of movement to cope with their style of play.

After a hydration break there was a very loud round of applause. Maybe selection had been announced.

Following this, two groups formed with players in each either wearing their nominated tops or one of the coloured vests. It was all about contest and the teams which lost in both groups were punitively dealt with in the form of push-up sets.

After this there was a relatively brief session of match play with Harrison donning the black top and playing with the putative senior team. McStay was with the whites and he was opposed to Moore. The movement was pretty sharp as they rehearsed scenarios to refine their play for the Bulldogs.

Once this had drawn to a close, training seemed to less formal and lower key. A group of predominantly seconds players was involved in a contesting drill, while the rucks and mids worked on clearances and stoppage drills in the centre of the ground. There was some desultory goalkicking practice at the Olympic Boulevard end, while IQ casually chatted to the crowd. Many youngsters milled around the hut which the players had to retreat to before leaving, hoping for a picture or autograph before they made their way back to Pie headquarters.

Captains runs are a bit of a hit and miss these days. Sometimes they might. Sometimes, they dont even come outside. Sometimes its just nick, mitchell doing some ball work and thats it.
