Carpenter deserves the criticism of that horrible defending but who was the second defender who just sat off despite there being no other forward for a mile?

In post game if I’m the coach I’m tearing that player a new arseh*le. Ellie made a bad mistake but at least she commited / got to the contest.

the player who didn’t even make a contest and didn’t get into a position to influence the play whatsoever is a far worse crime in my books. Ball watching. Wtf was she thinking? I didn’t catch who it was.

Then the 2/3 defenders that sat off a lone player while she dribbled it all the way up. **** me. That’s possibly the most hair pulling out , kick the tv in act I’ve seen in a long time. It’s like those girls were mentally broken and the gears in their head weren’t working. There was no reason not to commit to the player then, she didn’t have anyone about to run into the box to pass it too.

I like the way you think 😜

Lol the physicality employed by the England girls early was legit as if this guy gave the ore-game rev up

It allowed them to set the tempo.

Then as you said, we didn’t take our chances, our defenders looked like they were actively running away from England’s forwards and the refs allowed England to push on with bizarrely obvious time wasting tactics.

I mean that player literally running up to Arnold as she’s about to pass the ball and getting in front of her grabbing her and putting an arm up across her and the ball like she’s peak 2003 Bruce Bowen holding the lakers players like a long lost lover. FMD.

I guess your right, the refs had no influence on our defenders treating England forwards like they have super-covid, but gee they practically handed England the script and let them write the game didn’t they.

Man I would love any Aussie sporting team to ever get that kind of freedom in a big game. Just once.
It's always about umpires/refs with you, I'm sure you'd be the same if it was table tennis at the Y.

Where am I wrong ?

- we missed chances

- our defenders had some bizarre non efforts that let England practically walk goals in

- England set out early to play extremely physically and the refs let them

- England’s time wasting tactics were absurdly obvious and crossed the line and the refs bizarrely let it go.

There’s absolutely nothing there that is remotely out of touch.

At this stage if you’re pointing out a port fan and someone who watches our national team often finds we’re getting the rough end of the stick … maybe we are?

I mean it’s no real secret that those competitions (whether the afl / sanfl or fifa / fiba) view us as nothing more than filler.

I've read a lot of these girls aren't too fussed about defending the box from other women

Where does Richmond giving away a gazillion frees in their recent flag years fit in with these conspiracies? the only one I truly see is the sanfl but that's a given.

“But Richmond” is possibly the worst counter argument you could possibly have thrown at me.

It invalidates nothing of what I said.

If you want to discuss Richmond and their free kicks we can examine that.

Richmond are the most aggressive tackling team I’ve seen play football. They make hawks unsociable football look like under 9’s playing tag. They developed that style of play under Hardwick and had success with it. Most of the league followed but never took it as far as Richmond has.

It’s not just me either, it’s fairly commonly noted, and they nearly stopped our young brigade in its tracks by targeting them with aggressive tackles and injuring them.

Asking why does a team known for their aggressive tackling get so many free kicks against boggles my mind.

In other news the sky is blue.

It really isn't because regardless of how they play it would be ignored if umpires pandered to 'desired' outcomes & big clubs, by all means continue to twist anything to suit your world against us narrative though.

It’s an insane position to take in an argument isn’t it?

Like where does what I said equate to an absolute such as Richmond could only ever be umpired in a way so that they never give away free kicks?

We are all insane it's one giant nut farm.

That aside you are all over the shop you say aggression is not being penalised in one sport & aggression is being penalised in another.. anything to suit.

Richmond tackled to hurt more on their decline imo btw.

I agree. Woeful defence.

But the lack of intent and aggression to run at England from the kick off suggested to me that the girls were not only physically, but mentally fried after the QF

They weren't sharp and in sync with each other from the get go, as evidenced by the lack of connection with our passing, so often missing targets or kicking to a space where a team mate was expected to be, but no one was there waiting!

They paid the price for playing essentially two games on the same day, with just 3 day's break.

That's life!

edgie you might be the only one to offer an opinion.

seems like the ol ufc/mma thing has hit the wall. i got into watching it for a while but it was sorta 2005-2015ish and it seemed like it was gonna take over the world, but lately boxing has come back and seems to be generating a lot more press. the main thing hitting the news sites is washed up mma guys getting battered by youtube guys like jake paul..
tyson fury instead of boxing a legit challenger is gonna fight ngannou... who i support quitting the ufc because they pay peanuts.

it seems if you get yourself a bit of a name in MMA the way to go is to get the big payday in boxing... because dana white is a greedy shitbag basically

MMA ****ed it with McGregor, they took the sugar rush and killed what it was supposed to stand for.

Boxing are just filling the ‘genuine’ gap until they eventually shit the bed again.

Caleb's an idiot, but this is a broken clock is right twice a day situation. Unless we start using prisoners to do roads, someone is paying for them. Better those using them paying the fees, then everyone. In the time I've been back from living in Melbourne (start of 2008), of Adelaide's 1950's hang-ups, we've at least got a central city stadium again. We still are yet to get decent shopping hours, roads that move faster (considering the lower population to the Eastern states) or anything ******* built at the Le Cornu's site in North Adelaide.
Those using them are those driving to work to make money for the campaigners not paying tax. Who catch the tram or have a 5 minute drive to their reserved spot.

Tax the campaigners and build the roads.

Spot on.

A lot of Aussie soccer types don’t understand that the game can be played in a very ‘unsocial’ manner

The lack of Sunday league type soccer here leads them to think it’s all pass and give type shit.

Nah. Soccer is also kicking lumps out of campaigners.
