I dunno, having a hobby farm and a couple Ford Rangers given to me and experiencing more of a relaxed country like lifestyle whilst getting to play for the most successful footy club of the last 20 years and still getting more than your fair share of big prime time slots and big crowds at the MCG would be appealing to me as opposed to playing for Collingwood and living in and around the Melbourne CBD.

I think Blight refused to live in Geelong and would commute from his residence in Melbourne.

How do you make a list of best and worst 23 but not take into account how they will perform? I genuinely don't understand what you rank them off of?

I can live with that, it's not even an insane suggestion.

Below Essendon, and the same tier as St Kilda and North is crazy.

He also had St Kilda as a "Lock" for top 8 last year, and now they're apparently they're a bottom of the barrel team. He does not appear to have much conviction in what he says

Listwise — “best 23” — though. North at least are brimming with elite potential.

Adelaide might well finish above us this year for obvious reasons, but I wouldn’t trade our list for their’s if they threw in prime Mark Ricciuto.

At least he's one of the few that haven't jumped on the Freo bandwagon. I don't know where that's come from - apart from Shai Bolton and a pretty good first draft pick they don't seem to have improved their list much from the team that missed the eight, but more than just parochial Sandgroper scribes have being giving them a "real shot at the flag" this year.

As far as any commentators are concerned, No Dixon, No Port.
Poor Kenny is pushing uphill to get this list of all-Australian midfielders to win if they can't just hack kick into the forward 50 for King Charlie to take one of those amazing one handed marks.
Having Essendon, Adelaide and Melbourne in the tier above makes it clear this is just click bait

Bit off topic but stumbled across the annual report of the Parramatta Eels NRL Club annual report for 2024 and the numbers in it shocked me.

The Club made a profit of $24.6 million in 2024 and $55.9 million of their total revenue that year came from poker machines (a sub heading of the revenue item laughingly called -'contracts with customers' ). I assume that's a picture that's representative of NSW Leagues clubs.
