I'm souring on the whole vinyl thing tbh the prices for albums are insane, but anyway avoid the budget Audio Technica TT's they can sound pretty decent but have flimsy cheap parts until you get to the six or seven hundred price point and beyond. I'd go vintage myself with a heavy plinth & replaceable/upgradeable cart options you'll find the odd person that doesn't know the true value of certain TT's on marketplace etc.

You'll need a good integrated amplifier (powered speakers suck if you ask me & inbuilt preamps on TT's are low quality) so look at marantz, rotel, nad, yamaha etc. or go vintage (vintage marantz & rotel amps can be awesome).

My nod on a decent newish budget amp is a Rotel A10 it has a lovely phono stage.. sold one and regret it.
Marantz im familiar with as I have a few receivers built by them.

I was potentially looking at this based on not much:

I'm sure it's cool I'm just not a fan of powered speakers, it just doesn't sound like passive speakers with analogue equipment & that's the authentic realm for records it has warmth & it breathes.. Yes I'm getting wanky.

What do you reckon?

Dont think i want to navigate the vintage route for now as I don't have the knowledge to.

Looks nice you'd need a phono preamp to use it with powered speakers if you go down that route, it'd be nice through a good integrated amp for sure.

This is the one they sort of recommend as a package with it

Yea that seems reasonable in price, not much to outlay if you decide on upgrading to an integrated amp & passive speakers down the track.

What I like about that turntable is it's truly analog with no inbuilt preamps etc. in the signal path. Nice cart too.

I actually have these on my PC atm. Could maybe repurpose them for the turntable.

It ends when you say to yourself jeezus I ain't paying 70 bucks for an LP & suddenly your cheap ass bluetooth speaker in the kitchen sounds tolerable.
I'll buy Wheatus' debut album and call it a day. Teenage Dirtbag on repeat.

It's a massive rabbit hole and remember new vinyl has issues, you pay through the nose for stuff that's for the most part from a digital source the complete antithesis of an analog medium to start with, it's why an immaculate first pressing of Dark Side of the Moon from some boomers collection is worth more than the turntable.
