It's sucks for Goldsack that he's done an acl but it's a minor blow at worst.

That's him done. If he doesn't retire they'll rehabilitate him and get him back to fitness like they did with Macaffer, but as a goodwill gesture mostly.

Feel for him. Have been a critic of him as a footballer, mainly because I have never thought he was good enough at any one time to be anything but a useful and versatile squad player, but am a long term admirer of his toughness and club first attitude.

Disappointed to hear, so many things compound it to... age, someone who gives their all and comes across as a good bloke and right on the eve of the season after a hard preseason.

I hope we get to see Goldsack on an AFL field again.

Thats it. Never was going to be a superstar but always did his job, defender or pressure forward.. He was great.

4:15 mark of the highlights package on the website from yesterday shows the injury (passage of play in 4th quarter leading to Reid snap goal) - very very slow to get up favouring left knee.

We can easily cover him but its not ideal. No depth in key position and hes a swingman who can cover there when needed ...as he did for most of last year in defence

As for long term future....cross that bridge when we come to it. There should be tons of room to retain him for a season if thats what club and player want.

Bugger, if true will miss his 100% intensity in games. Can be replaced, but not many give it all like he does.

Don’t think Collingwood will ever go down the LARS route. They always go traditional.

We have to fit Ellliot and Fasolo in anyway. And Stephensen at some stage. Shaz even. McLarty. A Mid like Pendles or Sidebottom or Maynard. Plenty of options.
EDIT....And Greenwood.... forgot him too!! EDIT.... JDG!!!! Also gives a window of opportunity to Mayne if he can show somethig resembling what he used to be able to deliver....athough that looks an incredibly remote possibility.

Goldy with Cox and Reid probably made the forward line too top heavy anyway

Little known fact....hes the only player from our three GF's in 2010 and 2011 to have a 100% winning record!!!
