Not saying they wouldnt cope with premier section football, from everything i have heard they would certainly challenge most sides and could compete.
But to come on here and say they would easily win and no doubt take the premiership is just stupid. Go back to ur divvie two board, win the flag without dropping a game (because we have all heard how good you are) then come up and win the flag without been challenged in premier league (because some of you are suggesting that aswell)

Can Dal Santo confirm 3 clubs merging "20 years ago" and still dispute me saying CONSISTENTLY having three under playing seniors? I'd suggest otherwise.

Premier League thread... can we get back to the premier teams!

St Bedes would be damned good in div 1, but they're not so it's irrelevant.

How does rupo's forwardline fare? have kicked 150 less than the 3 top teams this year; marcellin have scored more points than them and are 3rd bottom... perhaps the weak link in their team?
And don't come with answers of "Smeardon, Gregory etc.. are absolute stars and will take any backline in the league to town on their day..." I just want to know how it fares as a whole (tall, short, slow, fast) and is it just because they've played some good backlines so far??

Cheers.

after reading the last post, thougt id have a look at the stats and ladder etc.

intersting to see rupo with such a low points for.... also marcellin who have won only 1 game are 4th on points for...noticed delahunty leads the league goal kicking in what seems to be an average team... whats the story with him?

delahunty = could catch an arrow in flight: excellent hands, that i'd wager would be the best in the league.

Marcellin have played rupo, st bernards and xavs (losses to 3 of the top 4), then beat scotch. That probably accounts for their 1-3, but the fact that their forwardline has kicked the 4th most probably indicates they're a far better team than the ladder inidicates at this stage...

that's what i can put it down to.

Cheers

Massive rap for the kid...i was gonna say u must play with him but realised ur from OX....

have u seen him in action?

Looks as if top 3 is set...will be a tough battle for fourth but seems rupo have the edge over the rest of the field for that spot...St. Bernards seem to be a very strong outfit... would be good to see them stick it to Xavs and De La...do they have many 19's playing seniors?

Yeah lets leave the St Bede chatter lie. its draining me.
Its early i know, but Im interested to know regardless, 2 Grand final teams and the winner?
From this point im taking the top 2, de la and xavs, with de la taking the honours.

honestly who cares about st bedes they are in divison 2 for a reason... if you were good enough to be in the premier division then you would be playing in it this year..go back to your own thread and let this thread get back to talking about what is actually interesting... does anyone know who won in the scotch game and also wat does everyone think about the ladder after the first 4 rounds??

For your information, as the St Bedes 19s won the flag in (3)- they immediately are moved up a division, which puts them into div. (2). Before the season had started, this was after the practice matches, after easily accounting for 3 sides, which included a contender in div (1), they lodged a plea to the VAFA to have them put up into the Premier Division. This was thrown out as the Premier teams didn't want them to carry their points across. St Bedes then went on to have 180 and 140 point wins respectivly. Another plea was lodged, and discarded due to the same reasons (carrying over of points). It was only this week that St.Bedes had a solid 282 point win - 45.13.290 - 1.2.08. Just maybe the league will notice them this time, and put them up a divy. With no intention of stirring the pot so to say, i strongly beleive that St Bedes would definately be up there in Premier Division, and maybe take the silver wear off you guys, whom you think are good, beacuae the majority of you probably haven't seen these Tiger boys run around, My god they are super!

4 Rounds in, already 10 competitive teams in the Premier Devision, regardless of how much your boys win by, they will not be moving divisions. Plus there is no way you could move a division and retain points earned from playing other teams.

Should put that behind you, accept you have a kick ar$e team and focus on winning your flag. Then in the off season you need to retain your players and recruit well again so you can further this conversation, same time next year.

Many teams at Junior level have a couple of good years, then fade after their guns graduate into seniors etc... and no recruiting has been done to replace them.

Totally agree, It sounds like the majority of blokes would be in their last years of U/19 and hence the lop sided results.

Teams like Xavs, De La will always be in contention as they recrute year after year and success attracts quality players.

De la should test Marcelin's ability to score this week, could be a good test to see were Marcelin are at?

tips...
bernards
blacks
blues
dela
xavs
my prediction is rupo will lose its next three games (4 in row) and blues will push into the top 4.
i think most are waiting eagerly for the top 3 sides to play each other.

blues and skobs is a massive game this week.... if skob can get up and win this game they would of really set up their chances for a top four finish this year... but uni blues are going to be very tough to beat as they have proven to be strong year in year out....match of the round for my means as there is so much riding on this game a chance for skov to go 3-2 and keep the one game buffer on the rest of their opponents in the bottom half and also a chance for blues to start their season and get it back to 2-3 after a very tough draw first up... should be very interesting... what are peoples thoughts??

my other tips are bernards, blacks xavs and de la.

Big 32 are you some sought of tool? U seem to be!!! Rupo wont loose another game for the rest of the year coz they r so so good.

Also how come ur not tipping any draws this week?

My tips for the round:

The Scotch Boys by 43pts
Carey by 21pts
SKOBS by a tight 2pts
Marcellin to overcome the cocky Dela by 12pts
And with no doubt Rupo easily accounting for xavs by 37pts

You are an absolute twit. So what if De La seem cocky? They have the runs on the board and despite being tipped to lose just about ever week from various peanuts on this forum no team has actually got close to knocking them off. Plus Rupo have no chance against Xavs.

Big round of footy! Im a bit puzzled as how you can tip marcellin against de la. Those boys are abo****ly flying at the moment and will account for marcellin this week by 6 goals.
Bernards will take scotch to the cleaners i think. 10 goals should do it.
Blacks will follow the trend they've set for themselves and go down to carey by 25 points
Ill agree that this bad boy is the game of the round. SKOB vs Blues should be a cracker. Im taking the blues by 5 points. Definatly going to try and get down to have a look at that one.
And im not sure about rupo starting up a loosing streak, but i think Xavs will get the win on the weekend by 18 points.
Good luck:thumbsu:

De la missing a few as well, good to see marcellin r up there with the two powerhouses this year... but i dont see how anyone could tip them to have won on the weekend, de la on fire at the moment with hardly a full team due to seniors and injuries.

Spot on.

The boys from Dairy Bell are looking the goods, half a dozen have played ones this year and will be primed come finals time.

Get on board while room is still available

well played de la. challenged in the last quarter, down by 2 goals come back to get up by about 3. gutsy win

Oh turn it up! i dont care how many players were out, they shudnt have been in that position in the first place! look at what old xavs and st bernards did. From what i heard a few players were in the seniors and injured from both clubs yet they still killed marcellin.

managed to get a look at skob vs uni was an interesting game, never seen a team play so average for 3 quarters then be able to do what they did in the last. uni were smashing them, looked too tall, strong, fit and skillful and then the roles completely reversed.
uni had a solid all round team i thought with some handy players down back, compared to skob which appears to drop away after their top line players in the middle and one up forward that put on a clinic in the last kicking 1 and setting up about 5

Interesting analysis there Peter.. What was the cause of the SKOBs last quarter?

prob jus uni not giving a toss any more after keeping opp to 1 goal and skob deciding to wake up and have a crack. i reckon both teams will be middle of the road from watching the game,

hey guys, bad news out of de la a couple of the ninteens playing seniors all year and wont qualify. at least two from what ive heard, also theyre fullback has given up because his moving to dubbo.
