That would be the light-touch sort of finding we should expect. Nothing (much) to see here folks.
Anything hinting at a serious miscarriage of fair play (even if not intentional corruption) would undermine the integrity of the sport vis-a-vis gambling. The AFL couldn’t allow a finding that leads down that path, or that might even lead independent observers to question the integrity of the umpires themselves. That would be a PR disaster for the AFL. Fortunately for them they are the prosecution, witness, judge and jury of their own administration. So they’ve got that one tightly under control.
It will be more interesting to see if all four of Friday’s umpires are still on the senior umpires list for Round 3 (or more sneakily Round 4).
I expect they will, but it’s worth keeping an eye on.

Having watched the replay I was probably most disappointed in English. He dropped about 6 marks that he should have held onto, many at crucial junctures. He was fine in the taps this week not being against a big body but let himself down around the grounds.
The worst thing about the umpiring was the continual soft frees one way yet identical the other way not paid. We all just want some consistency.

Sounds about right, but we got 4 in the first quarter that set up our lead apparently so that’s why they skipped those ones at the end….didnt have an impact on the result though……
