U19 Under 19 Premier

rumour has it that not very many (read 1 or 2) players have made the U19 Victorian team that are not playing at senior level for their team.

any guesses as to who it might be???

would be a huge thing for those players to have made it in my opinion. means their club is in a strong position not needing them, or they have really stood up at state training.

Fairbrother is back this week as well as big Dickinson and GIll some big ins for the Dairy Bell Boys
 
i saw a J. Donaldson listed for uni black under 19s last week, is that Jayden Donaldson who is listed with Sandringam Zebras and attended draft camp last year? surely not..

Match of the week must be St Bedes Mentone Tigers vs Old Scotch. With Scotch having come up against neither of the top 2, De La or Bedes, it will be a massive test to see where they're at. Also, it will be a test to see where Bedes are at, they just beat Uni Blacks last week, who beat Scotch by 4 goals the week before. With De La clearly the team to beat, this must be the match, at this stage of the year, to determine who is best placed to challenge them in September.

I'm sure both teams have players missing for various reasons; seniors, injuries etc. Going on last week, i think Scotch will have at least 5 of their best team missing with injury. But with a howling gale and the benefit of playing on the decidedly average surface that is Brindisi St, i'll back St Bedes in a close one by 4 goals. Tyquin to have a day out and kick 6.

For the other matches.

Old Xaverians vs Uni Blacks (the two teams that will battle for final finals position) - Blacks by 3 goals. I saw Blacks in their derby uni and 2 weeks ago on Friday night and their midfield tenacity is outstanding. An improving Xavs will be hard to beat but, if Blacks' midfield can get on top of Xavs, it will restrict the quality of delivery that Smith and McDougall receive.

St Kevins vs Uni Blues - Blues by 6 goals. Blues are not the 2nd worse team in the competition, St Kevs have drastically improved this year from their woeful last year but i think Blues will be on a mission this week out at Righetti.

Rupertswood vs St Bernards - Rupo by 5 goals. Bernards are easily the worst team in the competition. A young Rupo side to cruise to an easy win over the hapless Bernards. It'll to be a long ride home from Sunbury.

De La Salle vs Marcellin - De La by 12 goals. Marcellin are over-rated on this site and have no chance of making the top 4. Fairbrother (if he's playing/where's he been?) and Kovarik to kick 15 between them.
 
most over rated player in vafa is kovarik his too slow and is easily beat! has good hands and average skills, same with fairbrother very over rated tall and average hands and very average skills, two players who are easy to beat..

a new star back down at bedes played with them last yr almost the 19(2) highest goal kicker missed the first 5games this yr best forward in the comp from what iv seen already! and from last yr.

Few questions here matey?? how can u say Blacks and Xavs to fight out final two finals positions when marcellin have beaten them both and sit 2 games ahead of xavs on the ladder and one ahead of black???? And also have held down 4th spot for 7 rounds now AND have played 2 of the top 3 sides...the 3rd one being this week??? makes no sense

Also i heard tyquin walked out on bedes?? not true??

De La vs. Marcellin

Went down and saw these two sides meet today, and firstly saw the worst football ground in the league. You needed to bring your own shovel to the game, as it was at times terrible to watch as you could barely see due to the amount of dry dust and dirt on the oval!

Everyone expected another De La demolishment which did eventually occurr.....

For three quarters of the match it was "game on" with both sides kicking "goal for goal", and some of the worst umpiring you will ever see (well it was difficult to see considering the players were playing in a dust bowl!) Marcellin had a "never give in" attitude as they kept in touch with de la until the beginning of the last term.

At 3/4 time it was 20 odd points the difference, but the feel was that both sides new the game wasn't quiet over. Well, it was after the first five minutes when the de la mids ran a muck to kick 5 quickies which ended any hope for Marcellin.

All in all it was a very good match, and the end score doesnt really show how the match was really played. De La were def the better side on the day, but marcellin showed qualities that you would think would allow them to finish 4th on the ladder, if good enough!

I was at the St Bedes Mentone vs Old Scotch Game today. And old scotch were not in the contest. hope they had a few good players out, otherwise they have no hope come finals time !

What mate? They ended up losing by plenty, but what i did say was they were in the game up to 3/4 time. No idea mate! Were u at the game, i gather not, so dont have ya opinion when u dont know the circumstances of the game!
 
hmmmm they did end up being thrashed but looking at quarter by quarter breakdowns were only down by 3 goals at every break until the last qtr?!

hmmmm scotch like ive said are pretenders and do not and will not have a spot in finals.... and blacks versus XAVS i hear 10 minutes to go Xavs were 4 goals up and blacks just managed to get over the line....how can blacks push the competition benchmark nearly all the way and then stumble over the line against XAVS???

Xavs finals chances are very slim now as they have fallen behind the pack along with Scoth despite there solid start to the season will fall behind with more losses in the second half of the season!

Scotch looked unfit and slow moving with the ball, pressure from bedes was intense as well... bedes also had plenty of options in attack as opposed to scotch, who fell down across half-forward... can't see scotch making the finals at all

I did notice that de la had kicked 19 points up to 3/4 time. Perhaps they should have been further ahead ?
 
Tigers V scotch!!
Dominating performance from the guns down in mentone! made scotch look slow and badly coached...
Tigers looked steady with the ball and made the backline of scotch look very very stupid!
The scotch game style was not a good one at all! it seemed to be lacking structure and purpose... i have been told by some that they had 4 out of their top 8 out... thats got to make some sort of difference but a difference of 70 odd i dont think so...
also the home ground helped but tigers did play outstanding

also the rumours i have heard that there is only one player playing in the under 19 competition that made the squad this weekend!! rather than the rest from their seniors!!
i have also been told it was from the team of scotch...
i very much hope he wasnt playing cause i couldnt see anyone!!
i will not say that scotch wont make the top 4 cause they have beaten all the other sides (i dont know how) but i think that they will show no threat to anything!!!

Cant wait to find out the squad for the BIG V, i wanna know the name of the only competition player!!
