I don’t pretend to understand the points rule but if it’s been breached, surely it is akin to playing an ineligible player? Which means loss of points. No point having the rule otherwise.

Edit: a few minutes of Google shows that vafa incorporates the AFL Vic player points policy which appears extremely nebulous - possibly drafted by a work experience kid. The only penalty I read (quick look) was for “knowingly” making a false declaration and the penalties may include anything from fines, match points or even relegation. And then the next clause discussed taking into account whether the declaration was intentional, unintentional or interpretive. But the potential penalties were only listed for wrong declarations made “knowingly”. Dog’s breakfast

"Brett, can you tell us how the new logo has benefited the Association? Can you quantify those benefits so the member clubs can see that it was $100k well spent?"
"Brett, how do you respond to those who feel that the move from 25m to 50m penalties has adversely affected the game and needlessly removed one of VAFA's competition differentiators?"

Love the 50m penalty, took way too long to be brought in. 25m penalty was ridiculous on any normal sized ground, hardly worth paying.

I would like to ask why all umpires are forced to buy a new uniform because the VAFA decide to change their logo? Surely whilst spending such a large amount on a complete waste of time, some consideration could have been made for the men and women in green?

Collegians showing the mentality that allowed them to collapse in two GF’s in a row. Amazing complaint from a “rival” club for a boy that finished year 12 at the school.

On ya bike Pal....the rules are the rules...
On a more serious note...the decision from the VAFA to allow Luke Russell to be cleared to Uni Blues after been paid to play in another competition for the first half of the season is the most disappointing thing i've seen from a VAFA commitee in my time following the this great comp...this just goes against everything this comp stands for.....it opens up an enormous can of worms in regards to recruiting players in future years..."Go and play for cash for the first 10 round of the year and pocket your 10k and then transfer across to us mid year and we'll be proactively working to get you a job in the meantime"....this is just not right...i know players have been given permits to play one off games for outside clubs for cash and then come back to play VAFA that same year but there needs to be clarification now on the rules around this....if someone is playing for another club for cash over a sustained period they should never be allowed to play VAFA footy that same year...a sad day for the comp....

I love that so many clubs are doing podcasts these days, I obviously do Bernard's, the Brighton Benchwarmer, Uni Blues lads are stars and the Collegians boys have today recorded another edition for this year - Obviously Collegians based, but they've been bold & daring to put together a Top 50 players in the VAFA

Have a listen, I'll be using this with Wally & Armistead on Wednesday with our feedback to it!

Massive oversight by the Old Xavs you'd suspect, can't imagine it was intentional / malicious. The discussion in this group alone shows just how ambiguous the points rules are.

An oversight?........my arse! Xavs will do whatever it takes to win , irrespective of the rules. They know the VAFA are "toothless" and operate accordingly....

Let’s keep this trucking along. Bit of midweek fun..

OS V Xavs last year...OS boy knocked behind play/some concuss helped off. Called for invest. Yes he was hit, but a week had passed and all
details now "scratchy"..nothing done
Coll v Xavs. 2 years ago? Xavs player broke a leg in contact with Coll. Umpire called play on, game continued to end. Xavs appealed
because they thought the Coll player should have been reported. The Umpire said "no", Xavs say "yes". Guess what happened?..a charge was
laid post game due to Xavs insistence.

Thats 2 off the top, Im sure other posters can nominate. Any comp has strong teams and weaker teams and teams in the middle. Xavs is
the strongest and they use their muscle accordingly both on the field (thats fine) and off it...

OS v Xavs - Don't think the Old Xavs schedule tribunal hearings, so not sure why they are at fault here. Tribunal hearing went ahead (late), and the evidence was inconclusive.

Coll v Xavs - Game ended when the umpires stopped play and had to get an ambulance onto the field. It was also called off with the Xavs leading and the ball beng in the hands of B. Goss taking a set shot. Game was ruled a draw despite the rules suggesting Xavs should have won.

But yes, please continue FF....

OS V Xavs . Tribunal went ahead because of the incident. Delayed hearing becuase Xavs wouldnt put the alleged offender forward.

Coll V Xavs. Your preamble is irrelevant. Game ruled a draw and no reports laid until Xavs pressured VAFA to lay a charge.

Thought Brian Waldron on today's podcast gave a good summation of the points system and tend to agree with the points he made about it all

Yes some good points from Wally there....the VAFA just need to clear up the rules around a few of these issues over the summer and things will be fine moving forward....more importantly as we relax into a two week break here how good are some of the games going to be through Rd 12-15....
Rd 12 OM v OB
Rd 12 SKOB v OX
Rd 13 Coll v SKOB
Rd 13 OX v UB
Rd 14 OM v Coll
Rd 15 OB v SKOB
Rd 15 Coll v UB

These games will shape who makes the four and who finishes top 2 you would think....If Blues get knocked over by Xavs in Round 13 then the winner of the Collegians and SKOB game on the same day could sneak into 2nd if they get on a roll....I think finishing top 2 this year will be pretty important as the 1st Semi Final will likely be a brutal encounter between two pretty good teams...the winner of that game then needs to face up to another very good team in the Prelim and if they survive that then they need to knock over the 2nd Semi winner to take the Flag...tough ask...only two sides have come from 3rd or 4th this century to take the flag being Xavs in 2005 and 2016...

Huge news coming out of a few clubs, multiple players have signed on with an EDFL club on big $$ for next season. VAFA clubs don't have the cash to stop them.

Unless you are talking about 50-60 players..this is tiny news. Players always leave, players always come. Depth is massive currently. If we lose a bunch, they will be replaced easily.
