Right now I can't remember a worse Dogs performance. Ever. For serious. No hyperbole.

Jones. Mate. ****. I can see he's getting mauled, but I can't see him trying to push through it.
Lake. Shocker today. Had plenty of mates, Gilbee and Pearce were right up there.

Those I saw still trying in the 4th:
Dahlhaus. Wallis. Roughead. Dickson. Minson. Others probably were, but I saw genuine effort from those guys. Good on em for that. I'll remember that, and so will others. It does count. It matters. No saying these guys were awesome or anything, but they were trying.

I think it was NBates who mentioned in the gameday thread that Macca was referring to Cross in the past tense. I heard that too '...has been a great warrior for us' I think he said. If he actually meant that Cross is done, then I feel terrible for Cross. Shit way to go out.

It may have happened by now already, but I really want to hear from Boyd after today. I feel that members are owed something, because that was an unmitigated disgrace.

Looks to me that everybody from the coach down is coasting downhill towards an end of a season that cant come quickly enough for any of them.

The depth to which we have sunk to in such a short time is just staggering.

Jones started off really well, timing his leads and getting to the ball, but he was triple teamed right from the start. About half way through the second quarter he started to drop his head and you could tell he was getting frustrated. Not until the 3rd quarter did they stop triple teaming him and sent an extra to molest Williams instead. By that time Jones was mis-timing his leads again and pretty much just out of the game. On this though, it can't always be him mis-timing his leads. Surely his team mates should know by now that he is quick and often gets to the drop too early, so they should adjust their kicks accordingly.

I feel sorry for the kid. He probably isn't good enough to warrant a triple or even a double team just yet, but because other teams know he is one of the main targets up forward that is being developed, the ball will be going to him a lot, so they just throw an extra around him and towel him up.

Spot on. Jones was awful today, but it's funny that people afford excuses/reasons for Cordy's shocking play all year, but don't understand that Jones tends to have similar roadblocks every game.

What isn't excusable from Jones is the lack of effort in forward pressure I witness multiple times today. Just gave up.

Agree with most of what you said, except I really don't know why you rated Pearce as horrible?

I thought he actually showed a bit.

The whole day was horrible if I am really honest though.

I know you were replying to someone else, but I thought he was horrid today. I looked at his stats after the game and I can't believe that he got as much of it as he did. Also, 5 1%ers. I didn't even see him until the 3rd and then he just appeared to be lost.

Jones was a disgrace. Gilbee is no AFL standard. Griffen's set shots are terrible. Tommy's are even worse. Picken tried his heart out as usual. Boyd got 5000 possessions and does sweet FA with it.

Watching the game was embarrassing enough but also having to listen to Dennis Cometti's commentary was inhumane punishment. What a carictature he is nowadays. Missed a key moment of the game when Cross couldn't stick a tackle because of his injury and all Dennis was concerned about was how hilarious his Leisel Jones reference was.

Excluding Boyd and Minson who tried their guts out, the rest of our senior core Griffen, Gilbee, Lake, Picken, Murphy, Giansiracusa, Williams laid a combined effort of 9 tackles between the 7 of them despite the fact we didn't have the ball most of the time, Dahlhaus missed matching that entire core by 1 tackle, that is pretty damning.

Just watching the Eagles demolish the Lions on Fox Footy. Eagles were last 2 years ago and uncompetitive. The difference between them and us though, is they have players who play for the jumper and a coach who demands respect. I couldn't see us improving like they have in the next 2 years.
