Thursday 28th September.

An under-23 match from VFL players. 5 guys out of this game were rookie listed last year.

some good Coburg players in there, love watching Jacob King.

Basically picked the entire Coburg defence ... says plenty about the season.

B: King, Robertson, Jorgensen
HB: Neville, Silvester, (Casserley / JON / White etc.)

Silvester is too slow and does't get enough footy. King is too light, small and a little soft. Jorgensen can't kick.

Al Neville would be a chance. Gets plenty of the ball, is an OK kick, and can run a little.

Sam Robertson is a good modern FB. Runs the ball out of defence, kicks well, good size. Hates contesting though and is a bit soft too.

Neville would be the best chance.

Few interesting players there. A couple that big Phil Cleary loves to death in Maddern and Clifton.

Trav Jorgensen was on our rookie list a few years back circa Carazzo I think, must have just scraped into the u-23s.

Matthew Sharkey played well against Geelong on the weekend.

I thought Matthew Wade had committed himself to a rookie contract with the Tigers. If so, it seems a little pointless to play in this game.

Jason Howard was lively in a few of the devils games. Got poleaxed by a saints thug off the ball, Allan Murray I think it was in a game he was very very good in. I can't really see any of the Devils attracting AFL interest.

Hopefully Davenport rocks up with three days of alcohol in the system after winning the VFL flag ;)

Maddern kicked 4 goals in the first quarter, didn't do much after that. Picken kicked 4 after half time.

Game was a proccession. Other than the 2nd quarter, the North side pretty much did what they pleased.

For North - Al Neville, Liam Picken, Scott Meyer, Josh Bowe, Justin Maddern and Steve Clifton were good. For South - Nathan Grima, Rob Nahas, David Biagi, Kyle Matthews, Daniel Corp and Marcus Marigliani were OK.

That said the game was dire. Looked like they specifically staged a match for the worst kicks in the league.

What are Stephan Clifton's chances of being picked up as a rookie? I remember him being a prolific ball winner at TAC cup level, saw him once on TV since. He is not that short, so anyone "in the know" tell us your thoughts.

My take on the game was that Nahas at 18, Sutcliffe at 19, and Picken and Matthews both 20 didn't do their chances any harm. and are rookie chances at least. Maddern was on fire early and looked very good but at 22 he will need to show someone that there is an upsize to him.

Nahas is crap he is so unbalanced it is not funny spends more time on the ground then on his feet. Is way too small to be considered.

Would love to see Kyle Matthews given a chance on a Rookie List.
The guy is probably a bit small/slender but having seen him quite a bit on the local level is an amazing player.

Great effort to have made the team of the season in his 1st year, after stepping up from the EFL.

so will silvagni go or what?

Not from what I saw. Was played out of position though. Interesting he is listed at 192cm but looked like midfielder size against Meyer and Young when he rucked for a while. I'm guessing under 190cm.

yeah he had shocker definately played out of position ruck?! i agree with you on that inforapenny... still would be a chance, would be good to see him at carlton. It just doesnt look right without a silvagni in it. Under 190cm inforapenny? watched him against sandringham lined up on nick smith didnt look that much smaller height wise. Anyone know if he is going to the screening? did he play ever play tac?

Think that is a bit of a let-off. Silvagni played mostly FB and CHB and probably only ended up in the ruck because he was beaten. Maddern kicked on him in the first quarter and he couldn't handle the quicker Liam Picken. Don't know how much time he spent in the ruck, don't remember any but happy to be corrected, but I thought Bekker and Ulms took most of the contests.
