Watched the end of your game as melbournes first half was a snooze and a half
Bloody awesome win by your boys I remember thinking jeez if only melbourne could play like that we could give the bombers a shake and sure enough we came out an did!

BTW Daniel Cross was instrumental in our win
Had a couple of HUGE smothers in the 2nd half and then went back with the flight and got crunched when the game was on the line late

Pinpointed a pass to salem to win the game for us
Fair to say I love crossy

Fair to say you are not alone!!! :) We all love him too - always will.

I know all the talk has been about Bontempelli but the more I watch of the replay the more impressed I am with Jones's game. I know he has been inconsistent in the past but I just got the feeling he has moved to a new level.

It wasn't just the four goals, it was the hard defensive work, the desperation, the ability to run out the game, the marshalling of players around him during the breaks in play, the ability to make a contest in the air or the ground. He also has good pace for a 198cm player. It just seemed to me like he has started to grow into the player we always thought he could be.

There was also a pass from Bontempelli where he went for Stevens or Crameri in a 1 on 1 and failed to see Jones all on his own. Could have easily had another one if Bonty had spotted him.

I'm not expecting he'll play another blinder this week. All I'm looking for is the same intensity and repeat efforts. We looked so much better in attack with his inclusion this week.

It's about 1:50 in.

Great video, really highlights his efforts and how dangerous he is 1 v 1 deep in the forward line.
If he continues to play like that he will either a) kick several goals every week or b) get the best defender and watch Crameri put their second best to the sword.

Not sure if you guys have seen this, thought it was very funny and pretty relatable (could interchange the names with Melbourne players after a good Dees win and it'd be pretty true)

Noticed after 24 free kicks in the first half there were only 7 in the last half. The first two to the WB and the last 5 (including all last quarter frees) to the Pies.

From memory this seems to be a pattern. Umpires play the rule book in the first quarter or three but seem reluctant to pay any frees in the last if it is a close game. They pretty much put the whistle away. Has anybody else noticed this as a trend?

If that's correct there is something seriously wrong with the way the game is being officiated. Are they scared to make a potentially game-deciding decision even if it's the right interpretation? Are we to understand that some things are a free kick in the first half but not in the second?

I liked watching the VFL on iview last week because the umpires seemed more consistent and it was more like Australian football and less like rugby. I think the AFL and its umpire's board really needs to have some scrutiny applied.

This is not about partisan squealing (we were robbed). It's about the good of the game.

It's like the Dees game where we lost the count 24-10 odd, yet all the talk was about a late free to Crameri that probably shouldn't have been given. But after at least 5 occasions through the game one of their players plain dropped the ball, I couldn't care. That was one of the worst umpiring displays I'd ever seen & nothing was said about it.
