Great idea mate.....hopefully the BF crowd on here will embrace and share their expertise....the more the merrier I reckon. There are plenty of knowledgeable sorts on BF who can link up on the day and provide their thoughts..... I will definitely be provinding my biased view for the EF / Cl game starting the day off for the Big Dance.

Can Claremont be challenged?

It's hard to see it, especially with Hamish Davis now available to play colts for Claremont.

When I look through both sides I see a lot of WA state 16's and State 18's players from 2022 to 2024. I hope my memory is right.

Claremont - Jaxon Douglas (WA 16's in 2022, WA 18's in 2024), Hamish Davis (WA 18's in 2024), William Hayes (WA 18's in 2024), Lucas Ravenhill (WA 16's in 2022), Cody Angove (WA 18's in 2024), Austin Van Der Struyf (WA 16's in 2022, WA 18's in 2024), Charlie Banfield** (WA 18's in 2024), Aiden Riddle+ (WA 18's in 2024), Hugh Boxshall (WA 16's in 2022, WA 18's in 2024), Oscar Willis** (WA 18's in 2024), Clancy Dennis (WA 18's in 2024), Max Hansen-Knarhoi** (WA 16's in 2023), Cody Curtin** (WA 18's in 2024)

Swan Districts - Blake Kelly** (WA 16's in 2023, WA 18's in 2024), Otis Harvey (WA 16's in 2022, WA 18's in 2023), Harrison Creighton (WA 16's in 2022), Anthony Hansen (WA 16's in 2022, WA 18's in 2024), Colby McDonald (WA 16's in 2022, WA 18's in 2024), Chayse Martinson (WA 16's in 2022, WA 18's in 2024), Thomas Cathcart (WA 16's in 2022), Leo Steed*** (WA 16's in 2024), Cody Ryan (WA 16's in 2022), Jai Debono*** (WA 16's in 2024), Jamie Sidebottom** (WA 16's in 2023), Evan Smith+ (WA 18's in 2023)

The difference is, Claremont's state players have gone from strength to strength where as the Swans players, despite being A-Grade colts performers have remained steady and not had a big impact at interstate level in 2024.

So to the game.

Claremont have their tall power forwards - Cody Curtin (197cm), Rory Luscombe (188cm), Lucas Ravenhill (199cm). Aiden Riddle (199cm), the WA ruckman will also spend time near the goals.

I don't see enough Swan Districts tall backs to match them, although Zaid Buckland (190cm) is a high quality defender. He, Jai Debono (190cm) and Thomas Cathcart (190cm) are going to be stretched literally. Below age strong man Jamie Sidebottom - a non-nonsense player in the true Sidebottom tradition will probably take the kick in role after a point. He is a magnificent kick and often clears the ball to the centre square. Finn Taylor (187cm) finds he has to play on taller opponents and usually does a good job.

Perhaps either Evan Smith (198cm) or Ethan Hall (195cm) will have to spend some time down back when not rucking although one would prefer them going forward to test the Monts' backs.

On the other hand, Swan Districts will have Colby McDonald (191cm) and this is where things might get interesting because at his feet (or a resting ruck) will be the three highly dangerous Indigenous small forwards in Anthony Hansen (173cm), Tylah Williams (174cm) and Leon Kickett (172cm). If they are in the mood, they will worry the Claremont small defenders.

We know Swan Districts can match Claremont in the midfield.

I'm looking forward to seeing Hamish Davis (CL) and Otis Harvey (SD) going head on in the midfield. Old Hale PSA team mates they may be but I wouldn't be at all surprised if they exchange some plesantries at some stage.

One would assume Davis will be the most watched player in the game by fans, scouts and recruiters but Harvey is a very very good player in his own right. As are his fellow mids Luke Cotellessa, Chayse Martinson (also fwd now), Leo Steed (2008 DOB), Lucas Andrews, the pacy Blake Kelly, PSA star Ned Reiger (also quick) and Max York.

But the Monts have genuine stars Hugh Boxshall, Austin Van Der Struyf, Davis of course, perhaps Jett Sibosado - and Cody Angove, William Hayes and the Cossom boys will use their speed on the outside. Charlie Banfield can also spend time on the ball, as can fellow below ager Will Malajczuk.

As a neutral, I just want to see a good match. Optus is such a big stadium (at midday WA time) that it won't be the most vibrant atmosphere but the players say they want to experience playing the 60,000 seater.

I hope a few people can join me here, especially for the colts and reserves - as this is a development/draft section of the website - and maybe leave a few comments about what you're seeing either on the Streamer stream (reserves) or channel 7 website (colts) or even from the ground.

I'm going to make tacos (should be sold at the footy IMO) and maybe have a couple of strong drinks. Best Taco recipe = Cumin powder, Cayenne Pepper, Garlic, Chicken powder stock, onions and mince. On the side - lettuce, diced tomato, grated cheese and mild taco sauce of your choice.

Gee whiz, Noah Dean (EF) has made a big step up. There were times when I wondered if he would hold his place in the colts side earlier in the season.

EF colts boys all looking good....Campbell definitely picking up some footy, as is Pauline.....Sanchez needs to get into the game.....but agree Dean looks a decent sort.

Reuben has had an injury riddled season mate.....this time last year the fella was leading EF ruck brigade in that GF thrashing over Peel.....v Reidy and Smith from memory

Meade another one who has had an injury riddled season.....last 2 seasons....highly regarded at EF.....controlling the half back line for EF......saying that Cl are settling and getting their fair share of the footy as the quarter goes on.

EF take a 7 point lead into the 2nd quarter...2.2 to 1.1.....

Gotta get back to work mate, but will drop back in after half time to see the action.

Cheers mate....popped back in to check the scores....EF extended their lead to 31 pts....obviously not over till its over, but EF controlling the play with league experienced boys in Rankin, McDonald, McGuire, Meade and Murphy leading from the front.....

Declan Pauline really stepping up now also. He's made the step up from colts with ease.

Jackson McManus (EF) taking some nice marks in defence. A much improved player.

Reuben McGuire (EF) well on top in the ruck.

The Claremont players - many of whom are former or current colts stars - are struggling to get their hands on the ball.

I've seen Claremont blow quite a few colts and reserves grand finals. Not sure why?

Koen Sanchez very quiet. Was expecting a bit more.

3/4 time EF 10.5 - Cl 3.5
EF up by 7 goals.....their flag to lose one would think. Great effort so far by the underdogs.....especially after Cl 16/1 season ( including the finals)....Can't count them out just yet though.....good to see Matty Burton kick a couple.....would love to see Sanchez and Austin hit the scoreboard as well.
