I went to journalism school and I will say this: there's a lot of duds doing that degree. Myself included.

The whole AFL media system is full of duds anyway. Embarrassingly bad culture of 'news breakers' instead of good punditry and writing compared to every other major sport in the world.

My nephew is a good story. A mad keen Port supporter who always wanted to work in sports media. Did a journalist degree and while studying did gigs on community radio calling games and wrote footy articles that got published here and there.

Then worked as a volunteer assistant producer for the 5AA sports show (with the help of Tim Ginever). Did enough to impress the right people at AA to get a part time job.

He worked his way up and is now the producer of Triple M’s Rush Hour and also writes for The Chaser.

He’s living the dream.

I have no issue with Kane in media apart from his Ken bias. It's the only fault. Most of his other takes are decent, if not a little purposely provocative.
