Toast Warren Tredrea - Elected to the Port Board (Football discussion only)

I heard both nominees for the Crows Member Elect Board Position spruik their cases on AA yesterday
Both heavily referred to their Member Engagement Panel as a critical resource to support their role

As our member elect WGT should be pushing really hard for an equivalent panel for the PAFC

There are some very learned posters on here and I'm sure equally passionate members elsewhere that would jump at the chance to be able to express their thoughts as supporters and on behalf of all members

Get it done !

Like probably many critics of kern I'm hoping Tredders will eventually get the opportunity to sit in the coaching box and observe him under match day pressure.

The two major stumbling blocks for that will of course be hinkley himself and his enabler the kokmeister, so WGT is almost certainly going to need support from other members of the board for it to happen.

Are we letting Hinkley back in the box again?

Hinkley didn't even let Darren Cahill in the box so no chance of Tredders seeing the Oracle of Camperdown up close.

The best we can hope for is that he stays on the boundary line and lets Tredders sit up there with the rest of the coaches.

the Oracle of Camperdown

Oracle : I'd ask you to sit down, but, you're not going to anyway. And don't worry about the footy.

Tredrea : What footy?

[Tredrea turns to look for a footy, and as he does, he knocks it with his elbow, which knocks the Oracle's fish & chip dinner to the floor]

Oracle : That footy.

Tredrea : I'm sorry...

Oracle : I said don't worry about it. I'll get Jordan to fix it.

Tredrea : How did you know?

Oracle : Ohh, what's really going to bake your toastie later on is, would you still have broken it if I hadn't said anything?

If he's going to be on the football committee with Chris Davies, then surely he'd be able to sit in the coaches box with him on occasion.

Interesting Tredders had a two and half hour meeting with Davies. Two and a half minutes would've been my limit.
Perchance Tredders did all the talking.

Lousy state cricketer telling a Port Adelaide premiership captain superstar the ins & outs of the footy dept?

Some days you don't even need to choke on ya wheeties
Tredders should just rock up to the next meeting wearing his premiership medallion.

Vice versa I recon.

Someone needs to teach Tredrea about the club, am I right?

Hopefully Tredders had a meaningful discussion about ruthlessness and winning.

Ding-ding-ding!

The overarching corporatisation of footy is obviously a reality we can’t get away from, but the past 12 or so months have been a real eyeopener as to how it’s infecting absolutely everything from top to bottom.

Why were lifelong Port Adelaide fans sh¡tting on Warren Tredrea for a supposed lack of business bonafides, in favour of the CEO of a minor metro hospital?

Why are lifelong Port Adelaide fans routinely parroting drivel about ‘stability’ and straining themselves through screen doors to portray the club as a pathetic minnow that is lucky to be competing with the West Coasts, Collingwoods and Richmonds of the world, with the concept of Port actually winning a premiership placed roughly on par with winning X-Lotto?

I have absolutely no doubt that Davies would’ve attempted to intellectually strongarm Tredders, arguing from a position of spreadsheets and deep strategy beyond X’s and O’s on a given gameday, encompassing a more advanced version of the “it’s not the SANFL anymore” doctrine us riff-raff are routinely bludgeoned with.

At the end of the day, beyond all the well-tilled soil regarding Port’s ethos and rich history, we’re in a salary capped league where the goal is to win premierships. And during Hinkley’s time here we’ve been in a position to win it all 3 or 4 times and yet have gotten further away as the relative degree of difficulty has decreased.

• 2014PF @ MCG vs 2-HAW — lose by 3
• 2020PF @ AO vs 3-RIC — lose by 6
• 2021PF @ AO vs 5-WB — lose by 71

Ergo, the relentless gaslighting, mocking and utter disrespect shown to the fans — let alone the second-generation club legend — for demanding the club stops rewarding and going back to the well with blokes who have shown time and again they cannot deliver, is insane.

It’s an elite footy club, not a boutique super fund or the English Premier League.
