Fiacchi will be the Bulldog/Terrier who says and questions where needed and Tredrea, whom fed him the talking points will bombard the board with Stats. Fiacchi will be the mouthpiece Tredrea needs to keep his seat on the board moving forward.

Fiachi is his own man and has his own thoughts and will have plenty feeding him talking points as a bit part of his agenda is making sure that the board hear the voice of the everyday fan.

This is because in a lot of places clubs have two hands tied behind their backs.

The AFL is an equalisation system. Its why since we last made a GF the only sides not to are a side that copped salary cap breaches (Carlton), a side that copped drug sanctions (Essendon), a new team with cultural issues (GC), and Norf.

Its a system whereby unless you do something unbelievably stupid, like breaking the rules and copping a sanction, or hiring a totally incapable coach and having them stay in the role for the longest period in the sport's history with no success, everyone gets a go.

Compare that to the EPL, where Ipswich for example have a total wages of around 33mil, compared to Man City with 202mil. That's an incredibly tough mountain to overcome.

Also, other countries have secondary and tertiary honours, incentives, benchmarks and parallel competitions that mean an awful lot beyond the ultimate prize of a league title.

Promotion/avoiding relegation/continental qualification/cup competitions in soccer.

Divisional, Conference Titles and College Bowl games in American Football, and so on.

If some of these dishy Hinkley finals flame outs had’ve led to away days at the San Siro or a moneyspinning home game against Real Madrid, his ‘achievements’ would be viewed through a much kinder lens.

Brother if Ken coached a Milan or Real Madrid. The Hinkley’s would flee back to Australia because his performance for over 12 years would stand hell they’d run him out of the building and burnt everything around them.

The Poms just conferred a knighthood on a guy who won next to nothing as an England manager. In fact Gareth Southgate's managerial career is similar to that of Ken Hinkley. Both are past masters at failing in big games. Perhaps Southgate's biggest achievement was increasing the sales of waistcoats at Marks & Spencers by 35%.

Harry Handsworth of Slough is about the only guy in the UK without a knighthood.

Yeah but this is Port Adelaide, not England

The other thing to remember is that this is just a crappy little local yokel game played in three cities in one small country. The players are somewhat semi pro and at any given point in time about a third of the league is 'rebuilding'. There is no achievement whatsoever in surging to the lofty heights of 4th in this context. Win it or get stuffed.
