Positives….l saw a game plan…we were competitive…for awhile….
It wasn’t a belting…I’ll take that any day from a team expected to go deep in the finals.
Negative….just keep the Half time siren silent….we switch off or run out of legs…but to be expected.
The season end is in sight…and there will be a sizeable broom applied..
No point in screaming at the walls… l look forward to the off season as this one has been taxing on the Sanity….
on to next week….may we please break some opposition legs in the process.

As usual we were poor when the opposition decided to start playing.
Our tackling is awful, even when we lay them there are few players that make them count.
Am looking forward to the delistings and trade season. Trade and delist whoever- there is lucky to be 6 or 7 untouchables in the current team.

I thought it was telling that Larkey played further from goal in the 1st.

Lever got done over a bit by Ford, when Lever cheated towards the down the line kick that did not eventuate.

Even though we had X deepest early, it all pointed to a different looking team and structure when our pressure was up.

Glad I’ll be at the next 3 games so I won’t have to hear senile Healey call the game.

Thought he might invade the field and fellate Max on the bench in the last quarter

Well you better brace yourself mate because we are at the bottom of the competition and quick fixes are 100% guaranteed to ensure even longer term pain
Who said anything about quick fixes?

The scores after quarter time were;
North 5.6 - 36
Melbourne 14.10 - 94

I don't think its hard to see why some are being critical.

Excited by what I saw in the first quarter, and happy with the second quarter up to the final minute. From halftime on, one of the leagues better teams controlled the game and the fact we didn't totally wilt under their pressure I will also take as a good sign.

It's the inevitability that kills you. Once teams get a couple of goals in a row, we're done for the day.

Turning around that defeatist mentality even when 5 goals up is going to take years

I really hope LDU sees some success soon.
I was always expecting a Melbourne comeback but we were screwed in the third quarter when they started paying the free kicks. Some of them were there but some of them weren't and once the players dropped their heads, we were gone. Yes the turnovers were an issue, but it didn't help. The fitness thing and I'm sure it's just development, is an issue. We're running out of steam against teams who are more physically advanced than we are.

Retiring Kangaroos veteran Jack Ziebell, who hadn't featured in the AFL since round eight, notched a team-high 32 disposals.

They don't know what's going on but still have a job.

The club needs to acknowledge to the supporters that lack of fitness is a major problem. They seem like they're in denial about it.

And also don"t blame it on having a young list when one of our fittest (Sheezel) is 18. Then tell us what the club is going to do to fix it.
Yep the ‘high’ in ‘high performance’ needs to be earned. It’s like calling an apprentice an expert

As they say in the classics

Oh well

A fair few more put their hands up as not being good enough today

Archer tried his absolute dick off. Scott ran hard all day. McDonald was good in the first half.

Stephenson was dog vomit. Curtis awful. Taylor couldn't pick up a footy cleanly if you had a gun to his head. Xerri isn't up to it. Thomas was trash. Goldstein anonymous after half time. Ford anonymous after quarter time. Phillips ineffective. Larkey ineffective. Lazzaro sucks. Tucker is crap

Oh well

That’s it. That’s the take. Wrap up the thread.

As Viney in Q&A said the club prioritised the gameplan education. Fitness will be a big thing this offseason for sure.

Don't understate the fact that Melbourne never really put the foot down. They kind of just went on with it like they knew they were obliged to do. Could've been ten goals

The effort was there from the group but some of them just aren't quite fit enough or up to it as week in, week out AFL players.
They just can't maintain the effort, make poor decisions (Tucker punch ball through, PC hacking out of air) and turn the ball over far too easily.
Demons didn't bring it first quarter and then stepped it up but at least I see some improvement, last time we played them we were miles off.
Exiting the ball from our defensive 50 needs a lot of work, we just turn it over consistently and even when we have chances to score we fluff it.
It will change in a couple of years when the personnel changes. We all know how bad the list is so I'm not sure what savaging the whole group does.
