We need to talk about Oscar

Might be just me, but it feels like he is trying to protect his shoulder still which is concerning considering he is fit to play.

I could be wrong but I swear he used to tap with the arm that's strapped, where as now he's using his other arm?

He's still our best ruckman, but he isn't as good at taps if I am right about the above.
Yep he's the one armed bandit at the moment.

If they're playing him you'd have to think he's going to build into full fitness.

Oscar had post season shoulder surgery and in the rehab group for most of the preseason.
He is underdone and that is to be expected.
Just need to get some games into him.
To be honest, i feel this way about most of the team right now. Especially with our poor starts. I think our players (especially Oscar) will improve dramatically midway through the season and we just have to whether the storm until then. I know Neale was at his best today, but the fact that he had a poor round 1 game proves that maybe we're coming into the season a bit slow.

At the game Oscar murdered them late in the game.

I assume their ruck was injured but he was a dominate force in the last quarter.
West coast lost both their ruckman.
The main ruck Williams went down sometime in the 3rd (50%TOG) and the other Reid in the 4th.

For sure, i think we can hope we are in decent form a bit earlier personally - our season went 5 weeks longer so 5 weeks in we should be pretty good - gather round give or take. Some might take longer such as Hipwood and Oscar who had very shortened pre seasons. I was ready to cop 2-2. Should be better than that.

I think our biggest worry now re fixture is a very hard run before the bye - which we get very late this year given we originally had a by this week.
Round 11 away v hawks
round 12 home v bombers
roudn 13 away v crows
round 14 home v giants
round 15 away v geelong

Except for bombers that's a very tough run! our record in the same 5 matches last year was 1-1-3

Yes, a tough run but also an opportunity to get one up on our likely finalists.
Geelong and Hawks our double up from that group also.

They are all tough. Yesterday proved that.
