It's the 1,000 year anniversary of Emperor Tiberius expelling the Egyptians from Rome, and deporting 4,000 Jews from Sicily.

So that means the Pies will expel all before them and win the flag. It's written in the stars.
September 28th 1850 - The U.S. Navy abolished flogging as a form of punishment.
Well we know it's going to be a close one this Grand Final!

September 28th 1066 - England was invaded by William the Conqueror who claimed the English throne.
Enough said... I suppose?

Well spotted.

I note that both events occurred a long time ago - before the advent of colour television. What else was before colour television? Black and white television.

All signs point to Collingwood.

Saturday night sucks for Richmond and is far from ideal for a game in Perth. Why start a match at 6:10pm local time on a work night?

Herald Sun suggesting Eagles and Bombers will be the Thursday night match.

Finals Week 1 Schedule Prediction:

Thursday Night
- West Coast vs Essendon (Optus)

Friday Night
- Geelong vs Collingwood (MCG)

Saturday Afternoon:
- GWS vs Western Bulldogs (Giants)

Saturday Night:
- Brisbane vs Richmond (Gabba)
Flip the thurs and fri night games and that'll be it. The AFL now seem to give the QF loser an extra days break.

Heard enough noise to suggest this will be it. Thursday and Saturday should be swapped to give the QF losers an advantage (as well as giving Eagles fans a more manageable timeslot) but if there's one thing we can't trust the AFL to do, making sense is right at the top of the list.

Week 1 should be:
Thu - BL 2 vs 3 RIC @ Gabba
Fri - GWS 6 vs 7 WB @ Syd Showgrounds
Sat (d)- GEE 1 vs 4 COL @ MCG
Sat (tw) - WCE 5 vs 8 ESS @ PS

everything should be geared around Geelong, as the 1-seed, getting their advantages and that is having their supporters at an MCG (home) final.

However, we know GEE will be shafted to Fri night - cos it's prime time and cos it's Collingwood or Richmond

Amazing that a team finishing top of the ladder gets absolutely no advantages, yet the team finishing 4th gets all of them. Odd system we have.

Won't get a Saturday night, as the AFL doesn't care about whether our fans make it after work from another city...But they apparently care so much about locking out the supporters in general?

We don't want Collingwood fans getting locked out of KP, but we couldn't give a sh*t if Geelong fans can't make it.

Riddle me that.

*********

P.S. I say this with the full knowledge that this is our lot and this won't change. AFL admin is a mess. Keep your comments to yourself because I've heard every dismissive response in the book against Geelong.

I think this is it.

Its the most logical because it suits all the time zones in various states.

Keeping the Cats-Pies blockbuster on Friday night was always a lock, so the other 3 games just needed to be fitted around that one game.

5th vs 8th is almost always the last match of the weekend, not the first

they'll have each of the QFs on thu & Fri, and then the EFs on Sat. It isn't right though. Geelong should be Saturday arvo
