But...he's laughing all the time, he loves it!
(But yes, he does mouth off at umps and has arms out at every 2nd stoppage/doing a Coxy, might be a trait from junior footy - the more you do that the less frees you'll get. You just want to see him be a focussed pro, hard and tough but focussed)

I was listening to them while watching (no idea why I chose 6pr, never again). But they (and the main caller Ive never heard before) were disgraceful all game.
Honestly it's like the had a chip on their shoulder even before the game started and decided to just lay the boots in as often as possible. The constant endless criticism, moaning, "oh Harley stop fighting" every time he was near the ball was trash.
Side note, Jako with maybe 5 mins left proclaims WC shouldn't be happy with that performance. Like bro, we were up to our eyeballs the entire game, we bought the pressure and intent we are all looking for, it's the bloody reigning premiers at home, at 1030 in the morning ,90% humidity and we are trash.
I'm pissed off we lost, but all in all where we are at, I can look objectively and be fairly happy with the performance.

It’s stupid it’s a media thing talked about so much, but Harley would be better of if he focused more on the ball and the game situation than mouthing off to the umpire or playing for frees. If he cuts that out he won’t piss off the umps and he’ll actually find he gets a lot more his way. Needs to get Rowell’s mentality in that regard.

I would've flipped them off too - booing a kid after he cops a late hit was weak.
It was clear as day they (Jakovich in particular) had the shits on with Simmo as he got the job ahead of their crony and fellow South Freo dumb dumb Sumich.
“Under the past coaching group” etc etc in potting Harley and the club’s supposed preferential treatment of him.

This. I thought going into the draft with all this talk of 'the best prospect in 30 years' crap that we were getting a mentality monster as well as a footballing freak..boy was I wrong. His mentality and footy ability are complete polar opposites, every team's had the book on him for almost a year now and yet he persists with getting stuck in to everyone and everything instead of doing what he's paid to do and get his hands on the f*cking pill.
I assume Harley has a brain because anyone with half of one could've seen this coming going in to year two that teams were gonna taget him again yet he decided to come back to first day of pre-season unfitter than he was last year
Can someone at the club please tell him to take the pumpkin off his head and 'lock in'. If we're only gonna have him for a short time I'd prefer if most of that time wasn't on his back jostling with someone off the ball.

Today was a bit better than last week for him... I think he'll be fine.. shaking off the cobwebs in year 2...
He'll learn to give the first handball soon enough and all this fighting will finish as the play will move on...
There's like zero chance that he gets traded before his contract finishes... Mountain out of a MEDIA molehill... I think he takes it a bit personally as his form and the teams form is bad... But seems invested enough.
Wouldn't be surprised if he signs an extension mid way through the year

Tbh I fear this could true, but still hopeful that that he will snap out of it and start enjoying his footy again. He seems to be a different player since his suspension last season. As if he's convinced that he's treated over harshly by the umpires and he's acting out. It's like he's being treated like the boy who cried wolf, but he is far from the only player that plays for frees. Last year there were some instances when he's head wasn't nearly ripped off and it was completely ignored.
As an Eagles supporter you'd want to believe that he wants to prove people wrong about wanting to go back to Victoria, but I don't anybody can guess what he's thinking atm.

What’s happening to Harley I actually saw it happening last season. They blew so much smoke up his arse but I could sense that they were also going to be the first to bring him down soon as he has a few down games. Harley wasn’t great today but better than last week. Hopefully in the derby things start going his way a bit more and he can start to build some form

He led us for centre clearances, second in the game for tackles. There’s simply no argument that he’s not working hard enough. He let himself down with his early preseason prep and you start from so far back when you do that, even as a freak talent.
But all the ‘just focus on the footy’ stuff ignores that he’s still getting stuck in as much as ever with the contested footy. And the highlights are so nearly there. The burst out of the stoppage last week for a behind, the trucking Neale to set up Kelly’s snap.
He’s just in for a very slow ramp up cause of some lazy early preseason work by the looks which, ok fair cop, but goes to show how high the floor is on this kid when these allegedly god awful games are still leading us in centre clearances and tackling that hard.

He'll be more than fine. I feel like he's going to explode in a single game or quarter and never look back. It's like something is going to click. We need to keep this guy and support him.
