Hopefully he turn into a Charlie Cameron type player for us. His aggression and thirst for the contest already seperate him from the likes of Lamb and Smith. Those two traits plus his pace make him some what comparable to Charlie Cameron.

I wasn't a huge fan at the time but people say he can't make it must also understand Charlie Cameron also picked the game of Aussie rules very later and IMO it seems like basket ballers seem to transition it footy players much easier than Rugby players would.
Was just thinking something similar! Hopefully van Berlo has some good intellectual property on how Cameron has made use of these traits

Yep. But that's the fault of Geelong's recruiters, not ours.

What? That's like fat people blaming the food they choose to eat for making them fat like they have no choice in the matter. It's our recruiters fault for not picking him after we already took a tall with our first pick because he was exactly what we need now.

Ah yes of course. So it doesn't matter what pick the player is worth. You just pick 100% based on a perceived weakness in our team.
Imagine if a team had chosen a player like Tambling instead of a player like Buddy Franklin because they felt they needed a medium forward rather than a KPP...

He's taller than I thought- 185cm makes him a good size for a midfielder or even a dashing defender. Could be lethal if he can put on some weight and go into the midfield with his pace.

I did think initially that we'd gone another Ash Smith, but then you watch the vision and you see how often he uses his pace.

Some of the phantoms had us linked to him but I did think we would go Stoddart, so we must have seen something more in JP. I like how we have taken a bit of a longer view with this pick- he might not be ready for a year or 2 but that speed will be very useful when he's ready.

Welcome to the club, Jack!

Id get him doing the cripps role. Like i mentioned above if he gets the tactical side of to a decent level as skill, he will be super dangerous. Unlike cripps he's good in the air and also has lightening pace.

If he can build the fitness to play that role- (you almost need to have midfielder running to play that role these days.) I can't see why not. Would be lethal off a wing in bursts as well.

Wasn’t sure what to make of this pick, but the highlights are exciting. Gonna need a lot of patience, he’s new to the game and the fact he has got this far in such a short amount of time is super impressive.

Has some terrific natural talent and attacking traits, could definitely see him as a pressure forward and goal sneak, occasionally pinch hitting towards a forward flank. Looks exciting, but will likely take a few years before he really develops and understands his game.

Of course you do. Why would you pick a player that wasn't going to fix the weaknesses in your team? If that was the case teams wouldn't have players they were targeting in the draft at all. We all knew Geelong was targeting Kelly and Carlton as well. Once we got a tall with our first we should have picked him up so Geelong couldn't seeings as he is exactly what we need. We went early on Liam Ryan according to most anyway, so that illustrates my point.
Picking best available is great but then what happens when you end up with ten third talls and no decent midfielders to kick it to them. You end up with a team like ours that wins the Coleman every year but gets spanked in finals coz when the pressures on our mids go to water.

Bloody hell he's a quick campaigner isn't he

Sure is

Not seeing this super low footy IQ that people are talking about either, but I've only watched about 2:45 of highlights
